First Duty Assignment After Flight School

Recommended Posts

I would like it if some of the veterans on here can share with me and the rest of us their first assignment after flight school so I can have some idea of the places I may/may not be stationed if I am accepted into the WOFT program and pass flight school.

You can be stationed at any post that has the type of aircraft you are rated in. If you fly 60's you will go wherever they are short 60 pilots at that moment. "Most" but not all first assignments are overseas. Germany is/was where most peaple spent their first oversea's tour, I got lucky and got Hawaii. In the end it will be where they are short your type, could be stateside, could be oversea's, the unit you go to may be deployed and may not.

What dictates what airframe you're assigned to in Flight School?

If they go by an OML and are filling slots that they need for particular airframes I'm assuming that some airframes are more complicated and take more skill to fly than others? If this is correct then what are the airframes in order from greatest difficulty to least that the Army has to offer?

Flying is flying. Mission and the systems used to accomplish it are the only differences besides the obvious (number of engines, size of the airframe, comfiness of the seats). People base what they want to fly on their perception of the aircraft.
