ATTACK!!
Hello all,The big day is getting closer and closer As some of you know, I am a SPC. My question is, do I make housing arrangements before or after WOCS??
IWannaFly
Either is fine. Some of my friends bought houses prior to WOCS, some of us used our off-post pass to arrange it, and some people just lived with a friend until they could find what they really wanted. If you have a family, I would definitely recommend arranging everything before you start WOCS so that they are taken care of. If it's just you, it's up to you. ATTACK!!
IWannaFly, Did you just recently go through WOCS?
FLHooker
The biggest question is... Do you have a family and are you bringing them BEFORE you enter WOCS? Cause they give you up to 10 days PTDY when you get outta WOCS to go get your stuff, find a house, etc... Building 5700 on Rucker is where the housing office is, you can go onto the rucker website and get their phone number. Just call'em, they'll let you know what you need to do. Oh, and if you are a WOC.... you're not a SPC, Rank is WOC, grade is E-5. Or atleast it will be soon enough! Congrats! CHAD
IWannaFly
IWannaFly, Did you just recently go through WOCS? Yeah. I graduated in November. Chad brings up some good points. I would call ahead. It should be pretty easy to figure out what to do. Blake

FLHooker
Ha. Shut your mouth, be on time, in the right uniform. Do what you have to do. run. Run some more. Be done. CHAD
IWannaFly
Blake,Any tips or pointers on succeeding in WOCS? Seriously, don't sweat it. I might get the SOP online and read over it (we had to know it almost word for word but some of the other classes didn't really have to know it that well). Other than that, just make sure you have all of your paperwork in order before you get there. They expect you to be able to follow directions and get things done. The course itself is not very difficult. If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to answer them but I really wouldn't worry too much. You'll get through it. Mymm
We can help you look for housing if you want, several realestate companies down here, LOTS of townhomes for rent, that's what I have. Plenty of places to meet your individual needs. Things in WOCS change pretty quick but if you cant have or drive a vehicle for your off post day (we couldn't) I'll try to help out if I'm free
ErOk_OnE
Ha. Shut your mouth, be on time, in the right uniform. Do what you have to do. run. Run some more. Be done. CHADThats about right. I graduated last october from wocs..and no ONE knew the WOC SOP by heart completely...NO ONE. there wasnt enough time to memorize the entire thing. check out our WOCS video so you know what you have in store...its exaggerated but WOCS is no big deal. as far as living here...for primary im on post. i love it...but were getting screwed with picerne and how much they're taking. They take all of your bah minus 100 bucks. (picerne is the housing company on post) if your married i think they take it all. my roomate and I are moving off post in about a month. we'll be done with primary and only pay a fraction of what we've been paying. we both pay about 854 a month to live here. thats 1708 a month that picerne is making off of us...we found a place off post for 800 bucks total plus utilitles...were looking at 950 tops...462.50 per person...and off post..cant beat it. CharyouTree
check out our WOCS video so you know what you have in store...its exaggerated but WOCS is no big deal. Cool. I wish I had the vid from my class. I like the "raise your hand and dance" bit. Especially that girl.... Is it just easier to live on base for primary or do you not have a choice? Realistically, the closer/faster you can get on base, the happier you'll be, as far as showing up in the morning in the parking lot, or when you're on hold, the endless B co crap you have to do. But no, it's not mandatory to be on base. Heck...when I came out of WOCs, they didn't have any place on base for me to be...
