Flight Physical

Recommended Posts

Anyone know whether or not Fort Rucker will accept my current class 1 civilian flight physical? Or do I still need to get all the paperwork and tests done at a military base? Seems like a waste to me.

Thanks,

JR

As I've said before (in case you don't know the best part):

You could be ON flight status (NCM (crew chief)), with a recent, valid, class 1 physical. Go through WOCS...you get another one. Doesn't matter when the previous one was taken, or expires. You get another one.

I've had so many freakin' flight physicals (and physicals that are more intensive) in the past 4 years, it's ridiculous. I'm up to at least eight flight, and two pre-employment (for an army aviation support facility, as a technician...as far as I can tell, it's a flight physical with the added benefit of them checking by ability to force air out of my lungs). And I come into my quarter in September, so I get another one :)

The only good news is only one guy decided that at 22 I absolutely had to have a rectal exam. What a bastard.

Odd, it's usually the female doctor that insists on covering that particular base...

If only...

on that note, one of the pilots in our unit (or I guess...used to be; he's with the FW guys now) just so happens to be married to one of the flight surgeons. I haven't had the pleasure, but I guess he gets a lot of crap. "Just remember when she's passing you a roll at dinner..." and such

I remember going through it just once....pain in the ass. Not literally though fortunately haha...my guy quickly passed the rectal exam and marked NE on the forms :D

Were you at Drum?

Edit: You know...I always saw "FL" in your name, and assumed you were in Florida. Yeah, I was up at Drum the same time.

So apparently the whole turn your head and cough thing isn't required in the flight physical or is at random? Somone help me out here?!

I still to this day do not know whether to feel takin advantage of by a smokin female flight surgeon or flattered that out of the two of us males that went for the flight physical I was the only one who got the "treatment". When leaving the NAS I turned to the other dude and commented on the flight surgeon being attractive and how I had to keep my composure when that section of the physical came around he goes "huh?!" I just about dropped my jaw in disbelief that he had not had the same thing done to him haha

Alright, well maybe he was yankin my chain then but I feel I'm a pretty good judge of character and the vibe that I got from him was that it was honest surprise. Thinkin back on it though I can imagine that would suck to be her husband or bf because since she would be doing that all day long for physicals that I can imagine she would be so nonchalant about it in the bedroom. Lmfao

I had to do the turn my head and cough deal too...but I'm used to that from doing it twice a year for a sports physical. I had a girl do that for me when I was a junior...it was...hard to stay chill so I know how you feel marine4woft lol.

It was insanely awkward doing the 'spread the cheeks and bend over for a second' thing for just the basic Army physical at MEPS though...wow.

For FAA? Have you already logged some rotorcraft hours?

I have a small amount of plank wing hours logged.. nothing major, just enough to know it's what i need to do for the rest of my life.

I had an intro flight in a heli before i started fixed wing, and i've logged countless home biult sim hours, but i really "need" to fly fling wing again.
