WOFT Requirements Rising

Recommended Posts

http://www.quad-a.org/Archives/09_Magazine...dAprilMay09.pdf

If you are/ want to be a WOFT applicant this is a must read. I ran across this article. Although I agree with what has been previously stated on this forum about comparing yourself, its never bad to know your competition. This article sums it up with an 'average' of WOFT Applicants having the following:

4 year Degree

26 Years Old

5 Years Prior Service

131 Afast

120 GT score

New Minimums are as follows:

29 Years of age or less

8 years AFS or less

Minimum GT 110

Minimum Afast 110

Strong letters of Rec.

Hope this helps all who are curious. Best of Luck.

The numbers mentioned are not "passing grades " or minimal scores ....

they are the average of peopel who did enter training program....

anybody who want to be there has to score higher...

and it is one time deal - as " hit or miss "....

and what is the " wash out " % of initial accepted people through the duration of training ?

For any body - just Good luck and Do that ! Not " trying ".. B)

The article is recent, dated this summer April/May 2009. If you read the article I believe it mentions that this is a trend that will take effect immediately due to the abundance of qualified applicants. Thanks IGM, "Trying" is an excuse allowing failure, Agreed.

Last time i was at the recruiters office, i had alittle time to myself and found a flyer for WOFT. While reading it, it stated the minimum requirements for WOFT were:

15 collage credits

less then 29 years of age

GT/AFAST score of atleast 110

That pamflet was dated spring of '08.

I dunno but as long as they're still saying yes, i'll play along. I completed MEPS and took my AFAST Nov of '08, with my flight phy's in June of '09,

The Army is going to be saying yes for quite a while. The street to seat candidates need to be stronger than the internal candidates chosen from within the ranks in order to be competitive because they are already in military doctrine. The Army is still short on pilots and the age, moral, and AFS are all waiverable. Keep trying, just because you don't get selected the first time doesn't mean they won't the second. Any questions about the process just ask.

And the "wash out" rate you speak of is about 2-3%

You are missing one key component of that article. Those 'new minimums' are only suggestions at this point. Some states (Such as NY where I am) have already put into affect some of the suggested changes... the 29 y/o requirement. It's a state thing, but it's not a regulation as of yet.

You are correct. The article does say that they are imposed suggested standards based on a high number of qualified app's. I did not mean to imply that they were anything more, my fault.
