Wall and Arco Officer Candidate Tests. I assume you are going Army WOFT? I prepared for these until they changed the age requirement April 1, 2011 to 30 years old now. Good luck. Either way if you're concerned about scoring high enough you should take the tests as they will only help you and you have nothing to lose but a little study time. Applied math (If train A leaves station.....) , Volcabulary, english comprehension/sentance structure, and numbers math (forget what this is actually called) The test (ASVAB) is now an adaptive test, meaning that it will give you harder/easier questions based off of what you've answered correctly. The math is usually what kills people. In order to score at least a 110 GT, you'll need to be comfortable with highschool level algebra (provided you score well in the other 3 subjects). Now because the Army is cutting back soo many people, you're going to want to stand out a lot more as a better choice. Getting a 120 on the GT score is more of a goal you should be shooting for. I just finished taking a class trying to raise my GT score. It currently sits at 102... also... study the hell out of the AFAST books... ARCO has a great one for like $15 on amazon... I had not seen some of the stuff before (raising buckets with pullies, for example....) but was able to reason my way through it. As I recall, the math was "hard" not because the problems were actually difficult, but because the computers that the ASVAB was taken on were of horrible screen resolution and I guess some people had a hard time distinguishing between + and <the symbol for divide>. (I don't know if that was a local MEPS problem, or all around, and I assume they've been upgraded. It's been almost 10 years....but you never know.) Like mentioned above the ARCO book has a solid ASVAB study guide in it. But the current edition is probably going to become useless in June. It's the military flight aptitude test ARCO book that will be...less valid, shall we say, when the SIFT does finally replace the AFAST (*not* the ASVAB). i've been studying but was just wondering if the asvab books really do help significantly improve your score I studied, and earned a 99 AFQT and 139 GT score. Who knows what I would have scored if I didn't study--except I know that it would have been less, because I studied what I had forgotten or didn't know. Clearly it paid off. Just do it.
