No problem. It blows my mind seeing helos do this sort of stuff. It makes me wonder if it is a highly experienced pilot (obviously) that can make the aircraft do maneuvers like that, or are some designed for it and others not? I mean I'm sure an R-22 can't do that sort of stuff, so how do you know when a helicopter is mechanically capable of doing flips and rolls? Besides trial and error...

Rotor system has a lot to do with it.

Agreed. The Ka-52 is an awesome beast but coaxial rotors in general seem dangerous. Not only from the amount of torque on two stacked swashplates but also I read somewhere that the torque of pulling hard maneuvers can cause the blades to come in contact with one another. That would be a bad day. Seems dicey.

Kamov has been making coaxial helicopters for 50 years. I think they figured out most of the bugs by now, but it is Russian after all....

They are kind enough to fit ejection seats for those guys.

I wonder how long the ejection sequence takes and why the US doesnt use one for rotorcraft. I know it was R&D for awhile.

I think they decided it was safer to try to land then blast the rotors off and eject close to the ground.

I can just imagine some dude ejecting because he panicked over a not-so-major emergency. Just think of how many times people enter autorotation when they didn't have to.

It happens in DCS blackshark.
