Applied May 2019 and had my Age Waiver disapproved. Waited a year to apply again this time my age waiver was approved. Biggest change I made to my packet was improving my PT score by 46 points. Also had my new company commander write an LOR to add to the existing letters I already had.

Did you change the written letter for the age waiver or is it different for s2s?

35, NICE!! I just posted a question about age waivers. I’m curious at 37 if it’s even worth a shot. I’ve been out of the service for a whiiiiile, but do have 5,000 hours heli PIC.... maybe a punchers chance...

1st time look for Sept2020 board. Good luck ya'll! Some advice.... No one will care more about your packet than you... as in no will give a flying sh*t about you, so bug the f**k out of them until you get what you need. Lol! Also, I took my test and submitted my packet within about 6 months of eachother... It doesn't have to take 2-3 years to do this. If you hit that sh*t hard, it doesn't have to be a long process.

Selected first look. What I think will set your packet apart is really solid LOR’s and a well written resume. I had a really really good LOR written by my Senior Aviator who reviewed my packet and I probably read my resume over at least a hundred times and had dozens of people review it to make sure it was as polished as possible. Sell yourself well, get it looked over by people who’s opinion you hold highly and don’t be afraid to start over again if it sucks (I did several times). Good luck!

APFT: 287

Education: Associates in Business Admin. 97 credits towards Bachelors 3.9 GPA

LOR: O-3, O-5, CW4

I took the SIFT Feb 2020 and submitted my packet May of 2020. I chose to go through quickly as I had come under orders to PCS. Every. Single. Time that you look at your packet, have the sample packet up on another screen and go block by block, line by line. Take your time. Triple check everything. It's tedious but well worth it. Good luck!

Street to Seater here, got accepted 11/20 board!!! Signed at the beginning of the month, 12/3/20.. Had a pretty terrible experience with my recruiter. It’s a long story that maybe I’ll feel comfortable telling at some point in the future. There’s one issue I can talk about that’s most pertinent to point of this post.
I wanted to withhold my application after my FQ-NS in Sept to build the best packet possible, and the recruiter still submitted my application, with only an update to my APFT (245 to 255). 255 is still an embarrassing score, so I worked on my PT score. I had totally rewritten my essay, and had additional LOR’s coming from a CW2 & CW3. I worked really hard on being a better applicant, and this wasn’t reflected in my packet because my recruiter didn’t withhold my application.
At the end of the day it didn’t matter, I still got in. The only reason I’m explaining is because less than a month ago I was pouring over these forums, trying to figure out how to get in. I’m trying to give context to my numbers.

Age: 34
ASVAB AFQT/GT: 131
SIFT: 62
APFT: 255
Education: BA Biology
Flight: 99hrs logged
LOR’s: O-2 MP, (O-3 153D), O-4, Civilan ATP/CFI-I
Waivers: Vision (20/15, but I have a cataract), Age

Again, street to seat.. zero prior military experience

255 is embarrassing?  That’s probably the best I ever did on a PT test.

Haha phew.. My arms are so damn long I struggle with pushups. While getting my physical at West Point, I maxed out the scale for wingspan by about 3 inches. I'm 6'4" with about a 6'8" W.S. @SBUZZKILL, did your PT scores affect your position on the OML much?
