My quest into WOCS

Recommended Posts

Question for the crowd. Since my waiver was approved to join the army, I know I am still going to need another waiver approval from Rucker. Should i be sending them pretty much my entire packet (minus LOR's) to review? Im assuming they are also on a case by case basis and want to see my scores and other information. Or should they just be receiving my flight physical and will decide on that alone?

Finally starting to wear off but its the weirdest feeling ive ever had in my eyes. Could see distance no problem but anything within 15 feet of me was a blur haha. Couldnt even make out the letters on the keyboard.

What sucked for me is that I got my bloodwork done right after the optometrist. Trying to read my information and sign the vials was a fun process.

Flight physical schedule for May 6th at EAATS. Ok people what am I in for? Getting poked and probed more than i can imagine?

Not really, not that bad. Was a touch more involved than a FAA first class, with eye dilation.

Im actually wondering if they are going to do an eye dilation at mine. They made me go through an outside doctor to have the cycloplegic refraction done and then had to fax over the results to them.

Finally the weather broke here and I was able to get a run outside. 2 miles in 14:50. Not happy about it at all. Got some work to do over the next month or 2.

Had the same issue! I was doing my 2mi run on the treadmill on a 2.0 incline in as low as 12:41! I go outside to run the actual APFT with my recruiter and I do it in 14:00. I was so mad! I am going to request not to take it on a 1/4 mile track next time if possible. Something about running in circles that messes with me mentally...

Make sure you tell your Drill Sergeants that too.

Hey man!

Been following this thread for a while, finally speaking up. Im excited you're finally on your way my man! I'm in your shoes now from when you started this thread, was a d1 also (cheerleader, but hey girls and full-ride!). I had a SLAP tear in my shoulder, and was wondering other than getting my surgeon to sign off on me, is there anything else I can do to facilitate the waivers?

good luck brotha

I only did one APFT on a track in 10 years and it was at AIT. Everything else was 2 miles on the road. Or 2.2 miles because our LT used FalconView to measure out a course once. Would have preferred a track to make pacing easier. And to avoid wasting energy on a run that didn't count,

Lol! I had the opposite happen. It was my last PFT in the Army and the grader only went out to around .8 mile for the turn around. Dudes were coming in around 11 minutes.

My last PFT in the Marines was at 3.1 miles. I think it was allowed to be between 2.9-3.1 and be within limits. Anyway, I ran like an 18:35 and got a 297. Still think I could have maxed it if we ran our normal course.

Never ran a PFT on a track though.

Thanks man. Definitely get the records from your surgery ASAP. I took me around 3 months to finally track mine down and get them. I cant say this enough but once you get them, MAKE COPIES just in case. At MEPS they DQ'ed me for it but did a request for a consultation. I had to report like I was going to MEPS again and then instead of going with everyone else, i went to an offsite doctor who did a quick x-ray and then talked to me for about 2 minutes. Quick range of motion stuff/strength stuff. He said no issues and said fit for duty. A week later I had my waiver. As far as Rucker's approval, I am praying daily lol.
