Jan 2014 WOFT Board

Recommended Posts

I'm creating this thread for the same helpful reason the other board threads were created. Given that today is selection day for the Nov board, I figured that it was about time to create a board for the Jan guys/gals!

The anxiety in the Nov board is running high and I wish everyone the best of luck! For any of you who might be FQ/NS, feel free to weigh in on this board too!

I'm just trying to get an idea of who is submitting their packet for Jan! This can apply to AD or civilian.

Well the Nov board selection is this week and it is already in the books after today. I was getting anxious reading that thread haha!

There isn't much time left to tie up any loose ends for this board so now is the time to ask for help! :)

I'm also a civilian. I meet with my Btn. board this week and then submit my packet for Jan!

Well I was aiming for Nov but couldn't get my flight physical scheduled sooner than 4 weeks out and the btn board thereafter! It is what it is. Also, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but as of now there is a board in Jan and May. There isn't a 153a board date for Mar. per http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/warrant/WOgeninfo_boardschedule.shtml

(could be a painful wait for Jan FQ/NS too  )

You should be able to get everything in by Jan tho!!

  • 18 NOV 13 - Deadline for the JANUARY board is EXTENDED to 27 DEC 13 for the following MOSs: 150U, 153A, 352N, 352S, 353T, 880A, and 881A. Bottom Line: We are still short applicants applying for 150U, 153A, 352N, 352S, 353T, 880A, and 881A! If you have the prerequisite experience for these Warrant Officer MOS' and the desire to submit a packet, then your chances of being selected on the first board of FY 14 is extremely HIGH!

Maybe thats good for NOV and thats good for Jan for sure.

I guess I'll go ahead and put my name back in here. A little background: I've been at this for a couple years total now. Last year I was most serious but complications with my "recruiter" really slowed progress to a crawl and event o the point that he was more of a hindrance than anything. I got out of the Marine Corps then once I was at the point of total frustration I ran out of savings and my wife and I moved across the country to be closer to family.

Anyways, things have finally slowed down and I'm back at it. I now have a much better recruiter and things are moving quickly. I'm not sure if I'll make the Jan board but that's what I'm trying for since the next one isn't until May.

At this point I've only got my flight physical, SIFT (Taking it Fri), the battalion board, and APFT left to complete.

Long story short: I hope to be on the board but we'll see.

Good luck to everyone.

-Jason

PS - My old screen name was J.Matt but since I moved the email associated with it doesn't exist and I have no clue on the password.

Hello, everyone. It's awesome to find a resource like this! Thanks to all who have shared their experiences during this endeavor. I believe I have probably read every post by this point!

I, like many before me, have a recruiter that is less than enthusiastic about providing assistance. I am doing all I can to try and get a package ready for the January board, but my chances are looking slim to make it.

Does anyone know if civilian applicants will be looked at before the May board? On the usarec site it gives the impression that civ's are looked at monthly. However there are a number of inaccuracies on the site which makes me question the assumption.

That's the AD schedule, any confirmation that there will be no civ board in March?

Depending on what the waiver is, it can go quickly. So since you're USMCR but also applying as a civi, do you still have to see and Army Btn. board? After your SIFT, you still have ~one month so I wonder if you can't get in on the Jan board. It will definitely be a mad dash but it's possible. You may end up like me and finishing everything the same week as the board convenes though lol

I still have to do BTN board.. which will be my biggest problem, trying to get to a BTN board around Christmas time. Also, my waiver is medical, so its up to Rucker... Is it for sure that there is no March board or are we speculating?

I would highly doubt that a civilian board would be done without AD. Civilians are a much smaller section of selections than AD are, and I believe the board members are flown in to do the board so it wouldn't make sense to only do civilians. Logistically speaking, it doesn't look good.

Took the SIFT yesterday. Got a 68. I'm in the same boat as redpatcher. Hoping to get in on the Jan board cause it's going to hurt to have to wait until May, but I'm just not sure if I have the time. Oh well, if that happens I'll let the VA pay for another semester of school...

Nice man! Sounds like you rocked the SIFT! I hope you can get everything else finished quickly!

@redpatcher, try and figure out when your BTN board convenes. They should still be doing one in Dec. and I know each BTN is different so you still may be able to get an interview scheduled without your SIFT and/or Class 1A. Technically you are supposed to be recommended by the board before you schedule your flight phys anyway but for some reason my battalion wanted me to be qual'd before they met me (that's actually why I missed the Nov USAREC board). Who knows, it sounds like a long shot but you may be able to squeeze in in time.

Just my $.02, take it for what it's worth. Good luck man!

Ya that's how it was for me. Normally it is the last step. That may be how most battalions do it but I think technically you're supposed to get your flight physical scheduled afterwards. I know some guys on here have done it that way (maybe they can chime in).

I'm just saying, it wouldn't hurt to see if you can get the BTN board scheduled. If you can't, you can't but it's worth a shot.

I had my battalion board the week before board week, and that Monday of board week my recruiter asked that I come in because I needed to sign two papers that were left out of the packet. I was hoping this would not affect my chance but I'm guessing everything was taken care of too late.

Sad part is now I have to renew my MEPS physical. It expired in November
