Hello all!

Currently a senior about to graduate from ETSU (east tennessee state), and am about midway through my packet. Took the ASVAB earlier this week, got a 97 overall with 130s across the board (yay). I dillydallied in my beginning years of college and now have a 2.4 GPA, so hopefully my test scores can get me out of that shi*t.

Still have yet to take the SIFT, physicals and obtained only one letter thus far. I know that they look for LORs from high-ranking officials and others in the field, but sadly do not know anyone that meets the criteria.

I am willing to drive anywhere on the East side to meet someone who can help me out with this dream of becoming an aviator, and is willing to punch out a pager for me. I do not mean to sound desperate, but maybe someone who has been stuck in my shoes and wants to pay it forward? Assuming I get in, I'll humbly oblige to aid the future of the program, but one step at a time...

Also, anyone have any intel on the SIFT? Recruiter is up my bumhole trying to get me to MEPs, but I do not feel ready in taking the test just because there is not much study material via good ole Google.

If anyone can help a brother out, I would be in your debt! I have only one class this semester, so my schedule is fairly lax.

Anyways, I'm glad I stumbled upon this forum and good luck to all of you!

Heise

Big thread in here call SIFT Information. Everything you need to know about it is in there. Also, take a read through Stearmann4's thread called WOFT a view from the top. It will provide some insight on how to go about requesting a letter. Take the time to read Lindsey's guide. It is pretty much a bible on the WOFT process.

I did some digging and also got Military Flight Aptitude Tests for Dummies. Got some study time to do! Thanks for the words of wisdom, will definitely check out the threads listed. Can anyone in the program offer insight as to what would be beneficial for me to read/do so as to better prepare myself for what lies ahead, namely getting into the 160? Also, does one get to choose what helo they train on, or are you placed wherever there is a demand?

Thanks for the aid, I'm sure you old timers roll your eyes when noobies blow up this forum. So for that I apologize.

Just to get you off on the right foot. Before contacting an aviator for a LOR, get the rest of your packet together first. LOR's should be last on the list since they expire fairly quickly. The current WO's or O's will want to see what you bring to the table. And also, do not expect them to write a letter for you. If they will, consider it a bonus. They are full of information about the lifestyle/path and what it entails. That should be your main concern. They can help you with guidance and see if this is something you truly want. I've learned a lot just from speaking with a few WO's and what they went through. In the process, they have made me want this even more.
