Optamix
We just had our pre-selection brief and we were told Warrants are going to be extremely Apache heavy and Lt's are going to be extremely Hawk heavy through the end of the FY. Apparently big Army changed their numbers for this FY and they are really unbalanced with to few Lt's in Hawks and Warrants in Apaches. dnanelson81
The last two selections have been 1 or two Chinooks 1 or 2 blackhawks and 14 or 15 apaches. For warrants

Yamer
Good news for some of my classmates who really want apache. Maybe it will get me through quicker too with more students means more ability to class up... I don't know

Joe_P148
You cannot read into these boards! Just because one board goes heavy apaches doesn't mean the next will. Have you learned nothing about the Army's knee jerk reactions to shortages? All I'm saying is don't get your hopes up and then go into a board that is 60 heavy. The way I see it if it's 64 heavy now, and your waiting to select its a crapshoot. Remember, even with the shortage they still have to fill the other stuff to.

UH60L-IP
I know what we are forecasting at the flightline. We currently run about 32 students per class. We might go down to 25 or so over the next couple of classes - and then probably back up. That's not a real significant change. In fact, since I have been here it has gone up and down a bit each class. What does that mean for Blackhawk pilots? The same as it always has. Sometimes selection will have a lot of 60s, sometimes not much, but class sizes will be relatively steady for the foreseeable future. You can try and read the cards but you will likely be wrong. If you end up right, it was only dumb luck. Here is your only certainty. You will not know what your selection looks like until the very moment you walk into the room for selection. In fact, the people that write those numbers up on the board for selection often only get the numbers an hour or two before selection if that tells you anything.

Hotdogs
You've got to be something special if you think rolling around with 30mm, HF, and rockets isn't going to be fun. It's amazing how the sexy platforms get hate in flight school. I was told jets was full of arrogant personalities and skid dudes were jerks I've found out each community has plenty of good and bad guys.

afarcryfromsane
Sat in on a selection board about 8 weeks ago, mainly because we were bored sitting on honors doing nothing.. There were about 25 LTs, and they had 1 47, 2 64 and the rest 60s WO's had 1 47 and 4 60s. 47 got picked 4th. Heard (not confirmed) that the next board was almost all 64s. The perception is that HRC is making knee-jerk reactions to shortages and classes right now are very heavy one way or the other. 01CelicaGTS
I think all but 2 got what they wanted. It was 2 guys at the bottom of the OML who failed checkrides that weren't too happy. So...don't fail checkrides kids! 47s went first. It basically went back and forth between 60s and 64s after that. I selected 60s.
