It feels like it's taking forever, I hate that I hear that the army is cutting the number of warrant officers selected in half this fiscal year. Don't know how credible that source is but it's what I've been hearing in the warrant officer community. At the same time I hear that, I see on the front page of the army Times, (mind you they are not that credible either),that the army is taking in over 900 new warrant officers, it just has me thinking a lot more about this board than I should, just food for thought.

Finally time to chime in on one of these threads!

Age: 26

ASVAB/GT: 93/125

SIFT: Not taken

APFT: 300

Education: Current college junior, political science major 3.25 GPA

Flight experience: About 25 hours in FW when I was in high school, broke the bank and couldn't finish my PPL

Waivers: None, but I do need a conditional release from my guard unit to go back on active.

LORs: Troop CO, Squadron/BN CO, will be sitting down with a CWO within the next week.

I'm a former active duty (5 years) currently national guard (2 years) cavalry scout that has been looking forward to getting this show started since I was a private many moons ago. I am not applying to a guard position, but an active duty one. My goal is the AH-64, I feel as though it is my job in life to deliver as much firepower as possible to those in need.

I remember sitting down in a warrant officer school brief at Ft. Bliss as a new E2 and having the recruiter there plainly tell me that I needed to build a competitive packet. So seven years later as a twice deployed sergeant I'm finally ready to get things moving.

I know there are guys who are going to have better scores than me, who have higher GPAs or better LORs... But I haven't gotten this far by second guessing myself. I'll see you all at Rucker!

Has anyone got an astigmatism exception to policy recently? My eyes are -1.50 left eye and -1.00 right eye. I have talked to doctors and recruiter but they are still telling me I cannot get the etp right now.

I was off by a quarter diopter in my right eye when I sent in my medical over a year ago, and asked about the etp. I was pretty much told get the lasik or get lost. Other circumstances have stalled out my packet so long that I'll be lucky to submit it for Jan, but I'd like to know how your story turns out if you can get the etp.

I think for the most part we are just waiting until November. I'm trying not to think about it because I keep psyching myself out.

Speak for yourself! I'm still waiting on a the adjutant general for the state of Wisconsin (not one of his subordinates, the brigadier general himself) to sign my release before I can even take the physical and SIFT!

The days go slow but the weeks go quick. Almost a month out. I cant even count how many times I've googled "Army WOFT" to make sure I didnt miss anything. USAREC probably has my IP address on file from so many visits.

In the meantime, nothing like getting a panic call from a colleague that we have 10 minutes to make a wire happen and clear a $1 million derivative transaction or we are going to lose a $30 million account. All cause someone typed the wrong account number last week and I have to fix it. Its the little things in life that make the day go by. That was my excitement for the day. God I hope I get selected.

Wait.... So some random person with that account number had a million dollars in their account for a brief moment?!

Was still his but the wrong platform to be used. Although that exact instance happened not too long ago but it wasnt our fault. A lawyer working multiple escrow deals accidently put about 27 million euros in the wrong place.

In helicopter terms, today was basically putting a bunch of hellfire missles in the back of a chinook. Yea you know they are there and you have them, but no way to deploy them when you want to.
