State of Wisconsin is dragging ass releasing me from my Guard obligation to apply for an active duty slot. Hell, my SCO even came down to my troop last drill to try and convince me to fly for the state! Nothing against the Guard, but active duty really is the goal.

Anyways, guess my name is off the list. I'm shooting for the January board. Good luck (but not too good) to those of you going in November!

Thanks! You receive any insight on how difficult it may be to be released from the state to go active??

The process is notionally easy. It's just a DA 4187. Except this one needs to be signed by the one-star commander of the ARNG for the state. So the issue isn't that gear turn in is difficult, or that the paperwork is out of control. Just that a flag officer has to sign on it, and he really has no incentive to do so quickly. I was told by my troop ops NCO that to get the paperwork back could take anywhere between 1 to 6 weeks.

The real kick in the ass is that I can't take the SIFT or physical before I'm released. So that of course means no board, which in turn means there's no way in hell I'm getting this all done in just a few short weeks.

Anyways, that's my story. Woe is me. Hopefully my packet is strong enough to get one of the few seats we have this year.

Looks like an incredible group of applicants to me. ;)

Surprised there's not more people that posted though.

Yea I was thinking there would be more people on here. Everyone's packets look good though, I wish everyone good luck and hope to see you in WOCS!!!!

Let's just say we're all going to see each at Rucker eventually. We'll grab a nice refreshing glass of..... water, because it's all about staying hydrated. ;)

you have no idea just how hydrated y'all will be. Seriously though there are a few people I met via VR that I went to basic/wocs/sere and now flight school with.

I wouldn't worry too much bro. I had very similar stats and was a first time go early this year.

The only thing I had on you was more college. Make sure you update your packet to show that you're now promotable if you can still update. It's definitely something they should know about you, especially with your TIS.
