November 2014 WOFT Board

Recommended Posts

Honestly it caught me by surprise. My recruiter and I were expecting March. Now im in panic mode to consolidate all my finances and belongings. I have to move all of my belongings back to NY where my family is and also squeeze time to see everyone spread across three states. So basically I have to give my two weeks at work now and also transfer all of my coverage. I guess this is my welcome party to warrant life.

I don't understand how you can get selected in November and go to WOCS in March. When I got selected in July and don't start WOCS until next September.

Not sure how much truth it holds but when I was at MEPS they said the reasoning is probably due to a few drops from the class. So we were backfilling those slots. I asked because I was shocked and no one had even mentioned the idea of a December ship.

Either a dearth of qualified applicants, or it is indicative of the reduced number of seats.

It's the number of seats. If they had 12 seats to fill, they would have picked up a 12th applicant even if the next best had a 180 PT and LORs that said "Don't select this guy."

Hmm ok. I take it this is a month by month thing? So January could pick up 20 or 5 depending on the seats?

the last 4 military boards they have taken an average of 57 applicants. in July they took 53. If they are combining the two boards I would think there would be a min of 100 people that would be selected. I on the other hand am AF and they have been selecting only 4 applicant for the past 4 boards.

Welcome aboard man and good luck! If you bring that APFT up a little bit I think you'll be in good shape(pun intended). You can really up it in a month if you get after it.

Just so everyone has an idea of what FY15 looks like. This is what was told to me.

"FY15 flight school accessions took a hit due to funding restrictions. Right now the plan is to bring in only 217 applicants for next year. That is a little over half of what we want to bring in to maintain our aviation force. Of that, 163 will be in service soldiers. The remaining 54 seats will be civilian guys like yourself"

Who gave you those applicant numbers for FY15? Also, for FY14 the civilian selection numbers were:

November 2013: 21 of 24 selected

January 2014: 13 of 16 selected

May 2014: 13 of 25 selected

July 2014: 11 of 13 selected (I may be off on this one)

58 selected FY14. So it only drops by 4 seats in FY15?? That's not much of a civilian drawdown.
