November 2014 WOFT Board

Recommended Posts

Just a FYI in case anyone ever decides to pursue something along these lines. My company has been working with me on all of this to make sure its a seamless transition out. So instead of completely resigning from the company, they are putting me in as a military leave of absence. This allows me to maintain the other perks like my 401(k) and employee discounts as I will still be technically on the books here. Just something to explore in case other people run into something similar. I will stay in "leave" status for a maximum of 5 years. It is something you can do by law if you choose to and the company can not penalize you for it.

So there's this Martin Scorsese movie.....

Haha let me tell you about the brokers i initially met back in 2010. Not even allowed to do business in the US cause they had so many marks on their records. I left after 6 days there cause they were all d-bags.

I can tell you for a fact that firms like that still exist. Its a huge black eye for the industry and the names are well known. They cant get work anywhere but boiler rooms. Unfortunately they take advantage of young kids straight out of college with promises of huge money, which CAN happen. But then they make the kids leverage themselves to the walls with loans, essentially forcing them to become toxic brokers just to stay afloat.

A kid that worked in my building back in NY but for a different firm. He was 23 years old, not paying his rent because he couldnt, high as a kite everyday. But drove a 2012 Aston Martin DBS. I broker checked him recently to see how he turned out. Hes now living with his parents, filed bankruptcy for which he owes 370k, and has drug charges and arbitrations from upset clients all over his records. He will never see the light of day in this industry again.

Wow... Well there's bad people in all fields. I got similar stories of shady people in the fields I've worked in.
