Flying Pig
That Ka52 has to be a maintenance nightmare!
Guest pokey
the russian video seems to me was filmed by an ameture photographer, where as the apache was a more professional video. Not really fair to compare them, altho? that apache has got to be one of the worlds baddest helicopters ever designed. Howard Hughes ? of korse ! (as mr ed would say)
Alex64
You're right, I do not even edited the video. How to shoot as posted. Compare these helicopters difficult. Only on the technical characteristics. A technical characteristics do not differ much. This helicopter is the ejection seat.
aeroscout
The only ejection seat helicopters were either upwards firing with sequenced charges in the blade roots aka "blew blades", and downward firing ejection seats which are even more problematic for helicopters. I would be surprised to learn the aircraft in the picture was ejection seat equipped. It looks like there is a nose wheel well blocking a downward firing seat, and an upward firing seat would have to wait for 2 stacks of 3 blades to separate. A-aron
The KA-50 Blackshark has an ejection seat and the 52 is just a tandem version of it. The ejection seat is upward firing.

aeroscout
I would love to fly that thing. Ejection seat equipped aircraft do not intimidate me thankfully.
Guest pokey
who needs ejection seat? ya just need to bounce off the ground at the precise time and be extremely lucky.

Flying Pig
The United States has an aircraft very similar to the Ka-52. The Marines call it the AV-8 Harrier. It has an ejection seat as well. But good to see the Russians are planning ahead for the worst. Edited October 9, 2014 by Flying Pig
AeronauticallyInclined
The ejection seat on the KA is the coolest thing for a combat helicopter. I sure would have felt better with one particularly when we started flying at higher altitudes. Missiles and helicopters dont mix well..... Max observed flight time: 15 minutes. edit sp Edited October 9, 2014 by aeroscout
