It seems to me that you have a really good packet. Good luck!

Thanks a lot. I did some reading and looked at people who got picked up and I didn't feel very confident. The CW4 told me not to worry about anything. That I have done a lot in my 12 years. Maybe being an Aviator with my hours and a prior Air Traffic Controller will help me out. I submitted my Package about an hour ago. 2 of my emails were at 6MB though :(, I QCed them prior to sending them and they all said 1MB lower. I don't know what happened.

J-STARS? That's a nifty piece of kit right there.

LOL I didn't know someone would know the platform I flew on. Guess you had a bad experience with a not so great crew trying to help a bit too much.

I just submitted it today. I checked it the other day, and it said Approved. Wing CC Approved it a while ago

Some pilots are good and others not so much. I have learned this in the past 4 years since I have been a flyer. It sucks that they don't train up with heavy A/R just 1k there and 5k there. Hit me up on face book so we can talk. so I can pick your brain and compare packages.send me a PM with your info.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Phrogs4ever for the last minute assistance. If all goes well, you'll be getting the first round on me! Hell, I'll buy all night!

Thanks buddy, but we can celebrate after this hurdle is cleared!! Lol

Then again when we get selected!

Well... Received the official phone call yesterday morning, FQ-NS for the NOV civilian selection board. I'm not going to lie, it sucked. Time to get over it and drive on. All those applicants in NOV board definitely deserved it, especially Jeffinpa. JAN board isn't that far away so I may be able to slightly improve my packet, but nothing too drastic.

Age: 27

APFT: 289
Education: 3.0 GPA 42 credits towards criminal justice degree
Waiver: LASIK and kidney surgery
LOR: former CO Major Civil Affairs, retired CW5, retired CSM, retired SF SFC, former PL Captain, civilian law enforcement Captain.
Board: 74/75
Other info: Prior service Army, 6yrs TIS 2yrs TIG E5. 5 years civilian law enforcement, street crimes narcotics interdiction, field training officer.

Keep your chin up and keep driving on. You'll get there.

Are you applying in service or street to seat?

Can anyone confirm/deny that the Package Deadline is more like a guideline and not an actual deadline. My final LOR has been delayed and I will not be submitting today. I spoke with a recruiter, CW3 Roit, and he told me that it's "preferred" because many packages get kicked back for paperwork/clerical errors.

I guess regardless, as soon as the letter is in hand, I'm submitting. I just need a little sunshine (not blown up my a$$, thank you. Recruiters do that enough)

That deadline posted on USAREC is for active duty. Civilians can submit 10 business days prior to selection board. Don't quote me but it's around there.

I do know the guy who handles the WOFT packets is a really reasonable MSGT. So I'm sure he's willing to work with you if your packet misses the posted deadline.

Getting another LOR from one of my old CW4's that isn't aviation. Thoughts? Will it help even though he isn't an aviator. My thoughts are, "the more, the merrier" LOL.

No. The more is NOT the merrier. Listen up. The board only gets 90 seconds to 2 minutes to look at your ENTIRE packet. The emphasis is on QUALITY. If they pick one LOR *at random* then it had better be f*cking phenomal. They may only have time to read the first or last paragraph of whichever LOR they pick. The more is not the merrier. You want only phenomenal LORs to be available for them the choose from; they will not be able to read all of them. If you have a choice between 3 and 6 letters, pick 3 that shine. 6 is superfluous. If you would like, I would be happy to look over the LORs you have and give my personal opinion on their potential. Stearmann4 gave me this advice several years ago and it works. He has sat on boards and he knows. Heed the above and use it. Best of luck.

This is a great piece of information, thanks Lindsey. I'll be going over my LOR's now to decide which ones are truly worth while.

I would think that they would read every Senior WO LOR and then read one random one or skim through a random one.

Im glad we can help you guys out. im in charge of that section on the jet. we can find more than that. I hope that we both can make it through this Jan board so I can meet you guys. I have to stop at BCT as an E-6 first if I get accepted but it will be ok.

You're joking. They're making you do BCT again?

Im an Air Force guy. So if I get accepted I have to do BCT. No worries, It will be a little different for me since I am a prior service E-6. I read the reg.
