Astro
For a CFI who can't find work which option would be better/cheaper? Getting his instrument and CFII ratings or doing the 100 hours to a job with Boatpix?
rotormandan
If you don't have your instrument rating already and you pay to do the Boatpix thing, you'll be in the same position after you build enough time to look for that next job. Most companies big and small require an instrument rating. Especially any entry level turbine job. Get at least your instrument, but you may as well do your cfii on the same check ride, if you want to have any chance of competing for any job with the majority of pilots. No offense but I don't understand why anyone would consider not getting their inst and cfii. Having only commercial and cfi is like putting on your resume that you went to 3 out of 4 years of college. I doubt the flight schools would be discourage against you getting more ratings at their school. To sum it up, get your self qualified to do the majority of jobs out there. Yes that means instrument ratings for vfr only jobs. The biggest waste of money is not getting "all" of your ratings while you're in school. Hours don't mean anything if you don't have required ratings.
Flying Pig
I had 1500 turbine and finally got my RW Instrument. I had a FW instrument already. I was looking outside of LE aviation and it was pretty much a non-negotiable subject.
