DynamicrolloverHecknoo
What are you using to help the old back during long days in the helicopter? I'm looking for a smaller seat cushion that isn't going to get in the way.
rotormandan
A lot of people in the gulf used the oregon areo cushions. I've also seen the wooden bead carseat covers used. I've never used more then a sweatshirt behind me
Spike
http://www.sharperimage.com/si/view/product/Automobile-Gel-Seat-Cushion/200595?p=plist2470005&gmkt=true&p=plist2470005&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=NonBranded&Keyword=&cm_mmc=CPC-_-Google-_-NonBranded-_-PLA&adpos=1o2&creative=45416396543&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CLXF28LDusICFYhafgod0EMACgI swear by the gel pad…. Maybe not in the “smaller” category depending on your starting point but, you’ll want it to cover your entire backside…… Personally, I didn’t have any luck with any “foam” products including the Oregon products…. Eric Hunt
I used the kidney pad from a Martin-Baker ejection seat, with suitable velcro strap. It helped for a while, but I still ended up with Bell Back after 10K+ hrs on their products.
Hand_Grenade_Pilot
McKenzie Self-Inflating Airback for lumbar support. Has greatly reduced back discomfort while flying (and in the car). Takes a couple seconds to inflate/deflate; super easy to fold up and pack. http://www.protherapysupplies.com/Shop-by-Body-Parts/Lower/OPTP-McKenzie-Self-Inflating-Airback?gclid=CP3A5eumvMICFYeBfgodHnQAiQ&source=googleps I also use a ROHO wheelchair cushion when flying in the MD500. I take the aircraft seat cushion out and replace it w/ the ROHO. Very comfortable, good quality and comes in a variety of dimensions. I got mine used from a friend; he had it for 2 years and I've been using it for about 4 months; have had only one very small leak so far (which was easily fixed w/ the patch kit that comes w/ it). https://roho.com/product/products/cushions/adjustable-skin-protection-and-positioning/high-profile-quadtro-select-cushion/
DynamicrolloverHecknoo
Thanks for the help. I ended up with the wonder gel pad that Spike recommended. It was cheep and I did not want a inflatable because I heard they can blow out at high altitude. I have been flying with it for a few month and love it so far.
