Just got word today that my age waiver is awaiting approval at Deputy Adjutant-General now. Once approved, everything will be complete and board ready for the 15 May selection board. Looking forward to this last hurdle, and hearing back on the waiver.

Good luck. Can't wait to get my packet done either. Going into the recruiter to harass about the flight physical again today. No way to schedule it myself right?

I am a civilian applicant if that makes a difference. As far as I know for civilian applicants, we cannot schedule a flight physical on our own. For AD guys I am not sure.

You'll probably need your recruiter's help getting you loaded into the computer system on an base.

Working on a packet now. I'm nervous as heck seeing some of my competition. I felt better about myself before I discovered this website. My recruiter told me the board selection was in June. Guess he was mistaken. Anyway, I've got to improve my two mile time. Recruiter wants me to run a 14:30. I can keep pace for a mile and a quarter. Working on my endurance. Running three times a week. One distance day, one day of intervals, and one day on the treadmill trying to run at my race pace.

Will be visiting a dentist to get a couple cavities filled before getting my physical. Also taking my AFOQT hopefully early next week (I'm trying to secure a slot with an Air national guard unit) as well as putting together a WOFT packet. One letter of reccomendation for far from an former Air Force dentist with the rank of Captain before he went on to practice dentistry in the civilian world. ASVAB is all I've taken so far.

GT score: 131

Just keep at it man, the APFT isn't to hard to improve on.

Have you taken a flight physical or been to a battalion board yet? If not, I'm gonna say making the May selection board is going to be pretty tough. But that's not the worst thing in the world if you need time to improve fitness.

Got my work cut out for me. Did a practice APFT with a bunch of guys and girls still in high school this evening. 55 push-ups, a measly 35 sit-ups, and a 16:48 two mile time. I'm glad I have two months to improve. Humble pie for sure

I feel ya on the PT. Its not fun for me but I know I have to work on it

I just came back from a run, I think we are all in the same boat on the APFT. The good thing is if things don't work out for the May board we can fall back on to the July one. If for some reason we cant squeeze into that one is where things get tricky .

Recruiter is working on getting me scheduled for next Monday or Tuesday (physical). Never been to a board. Turns out the "cavities" I was seeing were actually fillings, so all I got at the dentist's office today was a good cleaning. I have a bunch of room to improve on sit-ups. I'm not a big (fat) guy by any means at 6'1, 185. Unfortunately, the weight training I had been doing over the last 6-8 months isn't very conducive to doing well for army PFT and I hadn't been doing any cardio in that time period. I'd like to max out sit ups and push ups, and hopefully get into the 14:30 range for my run. Like I said, it's going to take some work

All the best luck to you FlightNewb. Just be aware that the USAREC deadline to submit your packet is March 13th for the May selection board. Looks like you still need to get a SIFT scheduled along with your interview and flight physical. Most people on here take about a year to get there packets completed and submitted to a selection board, not because they aren't motivated, but the Army moves slow in regards to scheduling all the necessary requirements for the WOFT packet. Just don't get discouraged when things get rescheduled or canceled, it's happened to me several times now. Just gotta be persistent.

Yeah I'm a little concerned about this as well considering I still lack the flight physical (scheduled), SIFT, board, and PT. If May doesn't work though, I can still go for July. But May would be a lot nicer...

I can't believe I'm actually hoping to be laid off. A little background info on me:

25 years old for another couple weeks anyway. Graduated from a smaller ag school here in Texas affiliated with A&M in December 2011 with a degree in wildlife management. GPA was less than stellar at a 2.76 overall. Had a tough time finding jobs that weren't seasonal or contract. Bounced around for a couple years interning on a 100,000 acre ranch (billionaires family playground), doing compliance monitoring for an environmental service company, interning with a river/water authority, and guiding hunters for a season before transitioning to the oil and gas industry. With oil prices falling, I'm on borrowed time in my current position. After a rough hitch, I asked myself what I really wanted to be doing with my life and flying was what came to mind. So I went to an army recruiter in January, told them what I wanted to do, and it turns out they were open to helping me out after I pretty much told them I wasn't going to enlist or go to OCS. It's WOFT or putting myself through a civilian flight school.

Hey everyone,

Im new to this forum and only just found out about it. Pretty much got my packet together for the May board. I had a hard time trying to meet the March deadline because I just PCSed and only started the packet in December. Hopefully Ill get picked up if not May during the June board.

Stats:

AGE: 22

GT: 126

SIFT: 72

APFT: 282

EDUCATION: 60 Credits for my B.A in Psycholpgy

PHYSICAL: Approved and Stamped

MILITARY: E5 Sergeant AD, WLC (cl) and OSUT honor grad, 1/2 and 1/1 NCOER

LOR: company co, battalion co and CW3.

How often have you seen people with stats like these get picked up? I have to admit, seeing all these College grads and near perfect SIFT scores made me a lil nervous.

Ok. So my flight physical is scheduled for the 20th, and its actually at Ft. Rucker since I live in Alabama. I'm thinking that since it's at Rucker, the process will move a little faster than what most people encounter. Also, as was discussed earlier in this thread, there is some confusion over when the civilian packet submission date is. USAREC says mid May but someone said that's only for AD applicants. My recruiter did in fact show me an email today stating that the "cutoff" date is two weeks before the board in May. Can anyone confirm that this is true? It would be huge if it is.

AGE WAIVER APPROVED!!! Just got my official approval from the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Pentagon. Signed by a full bird Colonel. I know they said something about it going all the way to the Pentagon, but wow, I didn't think they were serious about that. So unbelievably happy right now. This is my last step. All is done. Ready for the board!

Congrats, I'm at the other end of the spectrum at 19, but hope to meet you at Rucker!

Tomfay, there was a street to seat guy in my wocs class who's from alabama. He was 18... In wocs.... It is possible, stay strong. And you might just walk out that day with a stamped physical...

Congrats on the waiver also.
