R22 ferry pilot available!

Recommended Posts

I just did a ferry from Maine to California. Took 13 days with with one full day for weather, 2 half days for weather, and one full day of rest in between, so it actually took 10 days of full flying days at 300-400 miles per day. I had a co-pilot 2/3 of the way so that limited our fuel supply. We stopped at 30 airports for fuel and did some sightseeing too, so it was not all straight and level. I haven't tallied up my log book yet, but its near 60hrs. Overall, it couldn't have gone any smoother. We missed all the big storms and the helicopter flew flawlessly.

I had such a good time that if anyone needs an R22 ferried, lets talk!

iam glad you had fun, I did 2 long ferry flights across the U.S in an R22 as well. Good times. seems like most ferry flight options mentioned on this webpage entitle you to pay a certain amount $ per hour.

In 2009 I took a VR member on a 7 hours long ferry flight in a 206 and let him fly as much as he wanted to.... All he had to pay was his plane ticket to me and from the destination back home, as the ferry flight it self was paid by our client.

But sadly free ferry flights seem to be more and more uncommon these days.

I also had a med-time CFI accompany me on a 3 hour 206 ferry at zero cost to him. He flew most of the flight. We stopped for lunch and did some high altitude off-airport stuff along the way. He was not only happy after the ferry; a few months later when I left the company, he was hired with only those 3 turbine hours in his book…. Plus, in order to return home, he went to the local car rental agency and asked if any cars needed to be returned to area where he lived. They did, so therefore, his cost for the return trip was zero as well….
