Selection today

Recommended Posts

I just think the blackhawk Mike models are being reserved for the Lakota class selecting in a few weeks seeing as they can only select Blackhawks and apache delta model, as of now at least, we will see during that selection though, I know I'm curious to see what they are offered.

They wouldn't be able to handle the awesomeness of it

I would take the delta over the echo. I've worked on them for most of my time, was in the first echo qualified Romeo class and didn't really have a good experience with echoes. Worked on the echo when it first left the production line. We managed to let one flip over within the first few months of having it due to a microburst and we couldn't keep them fmc long enough to even fly em. Xmsn seizing left and right. So manny inspections that are no longer required because they since fixed the issues. Such a headache. I'm sure they use the picture of 008 flipped over somewhere at Rucker. I sat on guard duty for 4 hours laying down using a flipped apaches shade lol. Fast though, was nice to hear the black hawk pilots saying omg, that thing is dusting us, flying dart cross country with them was a good time.

I'm kind of happy with myself that I actually understood 70% of that...

I love seeing the selection results. I definitely fantasize about what I could pick. Realistically though, the fact that I'm selecting anything will be a win in my book.

Imagine you have a really rich uncle and he lets you drive his expensive car. Only, that car flys and your uncle's name is Sam.

That's how I see it anyway.

And the fact that you fly VFR EVERYWHERE. Plus from what I heard, I believe there's not the issue of being able to stay on the APU for like only 30 mins (depending on temps). I remember staying on the APU on the 47 for like 5-6 hours at a time on the regular, maybe longer sometimes.

Yeah I've only seen the temp issue in Afghanistan but I was on the apu for backup QRF for like 2 1/2 hours. Same bird was a notorious shitbag though, first day in country I was launching it from one ramp to another while we were ripping and it failed to start 4 times. Got them gains pumping the hydraulics up though. It's tail number is 333 and we call it half evil for a reason.

Hope all is well man, I hope your selection has a little more available than the last two.

Thanks man. Hows them lakotas treating you? It looks pretty brutal schedule wise from what I hear from the first class. Rumor is apache heavy for us also, but who knows at this point.

Lakotas are going well. Not a huge fan of the Sims but o well. Schedule is well, ever changing, haha. But overall not bad. We do still have guys in the Sim untill 2 am right now.

For the rest of this FY UH-72s are every 4th class, FY17 every 3rd class, FY18 every other, and plan is all in FY19.

And yes it has a lot of systems, but you can (and we do) degrade them. The course was redesigned alot, and although I never went through the 67 course, obviously; it seems alot better to me. (Based off my comparison and talking to friends in the 67 course, and IPs) For example, even prior to our first checkride, planning and flying a VFR XC flight to Panama City.
