YankeeDoodle
Hi I am new on this forum. I am a fixed wing pilot since 1978 and flew a lot of different airplanes, up to turbine King Air's 200.But that does not count, starting to fly rotorcrafts. My question is: do I start with dull Robinson's first or go to Bell 206 LR JetRanger's immediatey, because that is my goal.any reaction will be greatly appreciated.Maybe also a referral to a good and professional training facility would be helpfull.Thank you for your time. God Bless.
RagMan
Fly one helicopter, and you can fly them all. Do what your pocket book allows. Are you looking to do it professionally or just as a hobby?
eagle5
If you want a job flying helicopters, fly the R22. If your just flying for fun the 206 is a waste of money, so go with the R44.
Wally
If you start in the 206 (Jet Ranger/Long Ranger) you will spend a lot more money you would using a piston trainer like the Robinson. I can't think of any real benefit in the US aviation industry of spending that extra money, and I personally think that learning in a piston is a better training experience. Learning in a Robinson maximizes your employability, too.
terminal_velo
Dull Robinsons? A 206 isn't exactly a hot rod, it just sounds a little cooler.
jerryphx
I'm about 15 hours into my Commercial Add-On. A Robbie will attract and hold your attention, don't worry about that.
