CharyouTree
We had an OPD at drill last month, where our SAO told us of the long game Active Duty supposedly was playing on this. Basically: Active: "Hey...National Guard Apaches haven't deployed in X years! If you're not going to use them, we're going to take them."NGB: "You said the wars were winding down and you could take it from here. We weren't sourced."Active: "Well...that sucks. We'll take those, now." They saw what was GOING to happen, stopped sourcing the NG in key points, and are now using that lack of sourcing as an excuse to strip the equipment. Such fun! Such fun!Not really the way the AD 2 star briefed us but same results.

Such fun! Maybe the Army isn't as jacked up as the Marines when it comes to long term force structure planning based off of the current fiscal environment, but I'd honestly be hard pressed to believe any military officer would have the long term foresight to plan and execute something like that. We're losing a skid squadron back to the reserves (775) here in the next year or two.
Tradewinds
I'm sure you're aware that the AD Army is in the middle of retiring an entire Airframe, lowering by a big part their Air capabilities with no plans to purchase a replacement. Was it ever a big surprise how they would fill that gap.
