July board moved to September

Recommended Posts

I know it's just a couple extra months (and September happens to be my birthday month so what an awesome birthday it would be to be accepted!) but I'm so ready to finally go through with this. It's been over a year since I started the process. I saved up the money to get LASIK in December, and now it's been 6 months (literally 6 months from today) so I am able to go back to meps for a quick lookover on my eyes. A few more months won't kill me but it's been over a year since I last flew and I'm itching to get back in an aircraft (I know it'll be a long time either way before that happens but still)!

Except for that whole part about several weeks of it being completely repetitive to wocs or irrelevant to us at that stage. The new WOBC is better. The wait? Well that's just B Co. I've heard of waits that long under the old system as well.

Ah yes, there's that, but it was efficient and fluid!

Is there anyone you don't know? Lol

I think bravo has kept her as their personnel liason officer or something...

Lindsey, have you selected yet? You're not allowed to manipulate the system like this just to wait for your own personal selection

How high are the selection rates for there to be such a large backlog?

We really have no idea what its going to be. November 2014 was 30% and I think May 2015 was like 89.5%. Luck does play a certain factor on which board you get.

These numbers are for the civilian board. Would anyone happen to know the active duty selection rates for the May board? Not one person I know got selected.

I could've swore that I read somewhere that there were only four non-selects. How many people do you know that went up against the last board?

Best bet is to not worry about it. Not being a dick, however the past does not matter one bit. A) you are not going against the same people B) the board members are most likely different C) the army's need are always different day to day. Submit your packet, carry on with your life and hope for the best but expect the worst. Time will tell, stressing over it will not help. It'll only make time go slower.

Again i'm pretty sure those numbers you are referencing are for civilians only. I'm talking about the active duty applicants. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

Is there anywhere a civilian can access the selection numbers I keep hearing people rattle off? I'm really curious to see all the figures to get a 1st hand look rather than interpreting 3rd hand data. Anyone? Or if anyone knows a board post that states this, could I get directions?

On a second note, waiting sucks. Waiting with a "selected" stamp is, I imagine, FAR more entertaining...

The numbers are presented to all selected individuals (possibly even non-selects?) after the board has taken place. Along with numbers is a data sheet that shows average GPA, sift, apft scores etc. of the selectees. I'm not sure if this information is made public as well but that is how most members find out numbers.

Thanks. I had no idea. I only heard that people got a text message from the recruiter or the board told them verbally. This is interesting since, I guess those averages really say alot about what makes one applicant competitive even though the board preference is secret.

I've heard there is a statistics page somewhere on the army human resources site.

No problem, and I guess I should not have spoken with so much bravado as I do not know if that is how it always is. That is just how my recruiter handled it with me. The averages do provide a basis of what they are looking for, but are not the decisive attributes as you mentioned. My GPA and test scores were considerably lower than the average of the rest of the selectees, but other factors must have come into play. I could not tell you with any confidence about the army human resource site information, sorry.

Thanks for the input. My recruiter has been kind of sketchy on specifics about most everything so, any insight is always appreciated. My recruiter actually thought the standard line of "if you go regular enlisted you will have a better shot." This was their opinion based on the assumption that prior active duty is more "valuable" than being a dirty civilian. :)

This was after he and she knew I was not there to enlist so they weren't trying to sell me. They just really thought this was the case (they didn't know about the battalion board vs USAREC boards etc). They simply didn't know how the board selection was structured. I don't blame them but, I'm glad this forum is here to help spread knowledge about this relatively "secretive" program. Its helped me out as I'm sure its helped most everyone.

Incidentally, I found it humorous that my application process has outlived my first recruiter and now I'm on to my second recruiter. Says alot about how long this crap takes to complete. Cheers.

Are you referring to where it posts dates on the usarec website? It is my understanding that the board will begin on the 14th and convene on 18th. With all the information they have to go through, these boards take several days. If you are looking at the table where is shows "Sep-15" then that would mean September 2015. If not, then I just made an a$$ out of myself. lol

I have no idea why I didn't clarify usarec. Yeah, that's what I was talking about. I assumed it meant 15 as in day, instead of year.
