Do most Army soldiers want aviation?

Recommended Posts

Ask stearmann. He always has a ton of free time.

sir, I don't think stearmann is going to write me a letter... but anyway i was just not sure why my recruiter would say that because i always thought i could do my phys first. My recruiter thinks i have a good shot, its not about wasting his time or anything like that because if it was he would have told me...hes very direct with me.

Getting the references first would show that you are serious about this. For me, the flight physical was the last thing I did. (Excluding the board.) I attained my references and wrote my essay's well before any kind of physical.

thanks i'll start to work on my letters and essays first then...I'll just do my flight phys as last step then...as long as I'm moving along in some way that is what matters most

Certainly, I'll be happy to write you a letter, you just have to come to Ft Lewis to interview for it. I'll even assemble a board of W4s and W5s to answer any questions you might have about the Warrant Officer Corps. I'm usually only home in 2-3 week increments, so be sure to give me at least a month's heads' up when you'd like to come out. Mike-

ok I get it, I understand now. I'll find a way though

I'm just messing with you, no worries. Stearmann was helpful to me too when I was searching for a LOR. He's good and very helpful, even if he was a SEAL. I honestly do think you should take him up on that offer.

At this point, interviewing with stearmann is the best thing for you. You say you've changed, so prove it to him. Prove you're fit enough, capable enough, and professional enough to be a U.S. Army Warrant Officer Aviator. If you ask for stearmann's unfiltered opinion of you and your packet, I'm sure he'll give it to you straight. That being said, you can't be so defensive in the face of criticism. Believe it or not, most of these people are trying to help you succeed, not only in the military but in life. Use the criticism to better yourself.

The SWO LOR is such an important part of the selection process because it shows you've received the blessing of someone who's "walked the walk." If you can earn stearmann's recommendation after this train wreck of a topic, I think everyone here will give you the benefit of the doubt.

So i've been running 3 to 4 times a week ...my neighbor who used to coach hs baseball said i should spend at least one day doing a slow jog with max sprints in between....so if I was running on a track i'd sprint the straightaways, jog the curves etc. I'm going to try this, but one thing i'm starting to deal with is shin splins...has anyone had these and if so should i still keep running even though it hurts a little or would that make it worse? Ive heard different things, like the hs coach said if i continue running a lot i could eventually get a stress fracture but at the same time i don't want to fall back in my routine.

When you start to feel shin splints, pause the running and hit up the elliptical, bicycle, and swimming. Go for a light jog after a week and see how you feel. If good, continue your running. You don't want to get a stress fracture, it will set you back way further than taking a week or two off from running.

Continue this recipe as needed.
