Tesla
Brian is right in the aspect that there are less civilians applying, that's the reason why the acceptance rate is so high for them, almost nobody knows about the program. On the other hand, you have tons of in military guys applying, you can just look at the stats for September thread to see this.
rakkasanvet
Makes sense. Its good for us civilian applicants, but it does kind of force the Army to pick people that might not actually be as qualified. Either way, I'll take it. On the other hand, you have tons of in military guys applying, you can just look at the stats for September thread to see this. I saw some stats from past fiscal years that showed the total number of active duty and civilian applicants. On average, there were four times as many active duty applicants as there were civilians. That being the case, I'm hoping the September Board thread is a good sign for us active duty guys/gals. Seven civilians have posted stats, but only ten active duty applicants have posted (and two of those are second looks).

I don't think the forced selection distribution necessarily forces the Army to select less qualified individuals, just differently qualified individuals. You civilian guys and gals bring varied experiences and talents to the table. Civilians generally have more education and flight experience, whereas active duty applicants have more leadership and operational experience. The combination of those two talent pools creates an awesome synergy known as Army Aviation!

Prior service usually get the shortest end of the stick
