rotormandan
We have to balance comfort with safety. Do passengers on an S-92 wear fire retardant gear while riding to an oil platform? Some here have stated that a fire-retardant suit is too hot and sweaty. A civilian helicopter is not likely to get shot at. A civilian recreational helicopter for sight-seeing or touring is not going to do dangerous missions like... -firefighting-law-enforcement-search and rescue-combat-working damn close to power lines for line repair-logging-heavy lifting of cargo-in-flight refuelingThose offshore passengers wear lifejackets. Just like flight suits, it's safety equipment. If you're not wearing a flight suit for safety equipment(fire resistant) then it's just a one piece suit with pockets. Flight suits aren't fashinable. Safety gear isn't fashonable. Peope don't care about fashonable at work. If one isn't required to wear a flight suit, most wear something comfortable to be in all day. Something you could walk a few miles in if you have to land in the boonies. Some companies require you to wear collared shirts and look clean cut. It's what someone thinks looks professional. Fashion isn't really considered unless you're trying to keep pilots from show up looking homless. The astronaut doesn't care about fashon either as long as his suit allows him to breath. Spike
Those offshore passengers wear lifejackets. Just like flight suits, it's safety equipment. Giggle….. Those same folks who require me to wear a helmet, also require me to wear a PFD even though 99% of our flights are over land and 100% within reach….. Yep, safety insanity gone wild……

Maybe I will start a new thread about suits men wear on the moon and why they are so worn. Perhaps on a moon forum of some sort? Hopefully... rotormandan
In this overegulated sms world we live in, we're all going to safety ourselves out of a job. It'll keep getting worse until the world resets and we re-invent the wheel for everything.
Azhigher
When I fly I'd like to wear cargo shorts, running shoes, T-shirt. That'd be great. The flight suit does make me feel a little more legit though, walking through hospitals and around airports and such.
