Stats for Sept 2015 Board

Recommended Posts

I live in Enterprise and my father has been an AH-64 pilot for the last 15 years. Needless to say, he helped me out a lot with the networking, and I have known several of my references since childhood. Very much thankful for his help. I tried my hardest to make sure my packet was still pretty strong on my own, when it came down to scores.

I hate to even ask this on such a positive thread, but it's something I need to know. What happens to someone if they get accepted into WOFT and then they fail a school? Like they finish basic and then fail WOCS or SERE? Do they just get discharged from the Army or do they get re-classed into something fun like infantry?

I used to work with a guy in my last unit who was street to seat that failed WOCS and they reclassed him to 15T. I am unsure if they gave him the option to get out or what jobs to reclass to but that was his story.

I wonder if it's different if you just fail something or if you get injured/sick and can't graduate on time. I'm very determined to succeed, but started telling a few people what I'm applying for and they all ask the "what if" questions.

It is completely different if you are injured or sick. From my understanding as long as you can recover in a reasonable amount of time you will sit in a hold status rather than being dropped from the program. I am not speaking from personal experience though.

This. You get 150 days cumulative time in "close hold," which is where you go to die, uh, er, I mean, "recover" if you are sick/injured, or if you are on extended hold for a legal issue, or if you are getting rebranched or getting out. If you break your ankle and are out for two months after say, wocs, you only have 90 more days left in close hold for the rest of flight school. Then they'll start paperwork to kick you out.

That makes me feel a lot better, there's no way I would just quit WOCS, but things like err getting mono for example ;) are out of my control. Basically don't tear my ACL or get sick a bunch of times and i'll be good.

If any of you in flight training have been to the Mellow Mushroom in Enterprise in the last year, you have probably seen me... at work. Not the most glorious job, but it pays the bills while I'm waiting for my packet to get looked at. I worked at a Mellow in Mobile, Alabama for years when I was in college, so it was kind of the easiest job for me to acquire after moving back to work on my packet. So... if any of you find yourselves at Mellow, I'll be the morose looking guy, who has already missed 2 selection boards (for reasons out of my control), and wants desperately to get out of the service industry.. so don't be afraid to say hey, and maybe throw some words of encouragement.. Haha. Thankfully I've met plenty of awesome, supportive Warrant Officers while working here, and even met a guy who worked at the Aeromedical Research Lab next to Lyster and took me through the UH-60 flight simulator. I hope the next 2 years I spend in Enterprise will be during flight training!!

Also there were questions to the deadline earlier in this forum. I talked to one of the warrant officer recruiting command teams and the deadline is primarily for anyone with waivers. This will allow sufficent time to process the packet plus added time for waivers. From what they told me, as long as your packet is 100% GTG without waivers you have to the middle of August.

This is good to hear, I don't have any waiver issues but I am having recruiter issues. So tough to contact him. He never gets back to me about things. Does anyone know whether or not I need the flight physical completed before the Battalion board?

Your situation is a lot like mine haha. I'm a 15D on recruiting duty. Were you ever stationed in Germany?

You're telling me you like Germany better then where you are now? :D

Germany is in my opinion the best duty station in the Army! Although it can be a little too relax for new Soldiers fresh out of AIT, the opportunities to travel and go on some really sweet missions is unlike anything else I have heard about in the Army. I would kill to go back as an aviator. USAREC is the opposite.... Haha

Negative ghost rider, they deactivated the 12th CAB but the 214th aviation still remains with some 47, 60, and the FW company in a few locations. They cut personnel by about 3/4 so I was told. I still have a couple friends that somehow managed to stay.

Wow I was like 99.9% sure they were out of there. Germany would be a dream because (like you said) of the ability to see so many different countries. I'll keep an eye on that, thanks.
