VulcanAres
Hello everyone, I'm currently in flight school pursuing my instrument rating, and I'm having trouble finding what I'm looking for with IFR flight simulation. I feel like I've looked everywhere on the internet! I've tried X-Plane, FSX, P3D, Take On Helicopters, etc. etc. etc. I'm looking for an R44 Raven II with a standard 6 pack set of gauges, and a G430. (HSI not HI, maybe HI if it has a VOR. Preferably a turn coordinator and not a turn and slip indicator.) I'm surprised I'm having such a difficult time finding a setup like that since it seems to be the most common real instrument training setup! If anyone could point me in the right direction I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you!
V-any
Just do it with an airplane, there's really no reason to do it in a helicopter if you sitting at a desk. A Cessna 172 will have similar speeds.
VulcanAres
Yeah I considered checking out some of the planes. It just made me feel so... dirty haha. I'll have to take a look now, thank you!
V-any
Haha, I feel ya. Yea, just find an aircraft that's stable to fly, maybe even with an autopilot, and with a panel that you like. Home simulators are pretty terrible at perfecting your aircraft control, but they're great at practicing procedures. The IFR procedures are so similar between airplanes and helicopters, that you're hardly losing anything by just flying the airplane. Use the sim to practice what to do and when to do it. Good luck!
