Brian101193
I took and passed the SIFT on 9/11/15. Since then, I've been trying to schedule a flight physical, but my recruiter seems clueless on how to do this. He called me a week ago and said that he was waiting to hear from his "recruiting battalion" on how to proceed, but I'm not sure why it takes 3 weeks to get a simple question answered. All I want to know is if I can schedule and go to my flight physical by myself, or if I need my recruiter to do it. If I can, who exactly should I contact at Rucker to schedule it? (Rucker is the closest Army base to me)
WTFoski
I think you need to get your meps physical completed before you do a flight physical. My flight physical was just a walk in, no appointment needed.

Drew
Call Lyster and see what they can do. Main number is 334-255-7000. Im sure this isnt the first time this has happened. Definitely give them a call. They are doing flight physicals constantly there, so at a minimum they should be able to answer your questions. Lindsey
If they can't answer you then search for Mr. Garcia's phone number on this forum. He's super helpful and will even be the guy to let you know the status of your flight phys after you've completed it.

TachedOutOffRoad
Do it at Benning or Redstone. They will do it in one day and Rucker will make you come in a few times. Nobody at Rucker cares you want to be a pilot. They will work with you at the others. Will take a little calling around to find who you need but will save hours of sitting around later.
TachedOutOffRoad
And make your lazy ass recruiter drive you there and buy you lunch too.

Brian101193
Spoke to Rucker, was told that yes a civilian can do it but that Rucker is not the base that takes care of people from Tampa. Was told to try Benning and Stewart, so that's my next step.

I believe I had a 1.5 month lead time on my flight phys.
Brian101193
Like has been said previously, its the process that weeds most people out. Tough through it, its worth it. I believe I had a 1.5 month lead time on my flight phys. I'm sticking with it and using the time to improve my PT score and get LoR. It just sucks that I have a 3 and a half month pause in my process. Fort Stewart is the base Army applicants in my area are assigned too, but they only have 1 flight surgeon so they only see "local" applicants (I'm all the way down in Tampa). So I called every base in Florida and the only one that would give me an appointment was the one in Jacksonville, I'm on a waiting list at MacDill but told that could/would also be months. TachedOutOffRoad
Did you try benning?
Brian101193
Did you try benning? I called Benning after I was told by Stewart that they couldn't see me. I was transferred up the chain a few times and was eventually told that under Army Reg 40-21, Stewart isn't allowed to say they won't see me because they're assigned to my area. I used that info and called Stewart back but was told the order came from the base commander. Called Benning back and the guy was going to help me out and give me an appointment until he realized I was a civilian and told me it had to be at Stewart. Got all the way to picking a date, which would have been October 19th
TachedOutOffRoad
Tell your lazy ass recruiter to call benning, tell them you have a board in Nov and need a class 1a physical ASAP. Tell them you have been to MEPS and DEP'd in.
Brian101193
Tell your lazy ass recruiter to call benning, tell them you have a board in Nov and need a class 1a physical ASAP. Tell them you have been to MEPS and DEP'd in. My issue is that I don't really have a recruiter anymore, I had one for about 2 weeks and then he shipped off to another duty station. Since then I've just kind of asked whoever is in the office to help me out and schedule whatever I need. Might need to just visit another recruiting office and see what they can do. Yamer
How about you go directly to the office leader, whatever rank they are, and politely demand progress and help from them.
