Find a guy with a gold recruiting badge on his uniform and ask him if he will process your packet. If they don't in a few days, go to another station and tell that station commander your info and see if he can pull your record over. It's likely they are under the same company/ 1SGT. Call her 1SG and politely ask to be assigned to a good recruiter so they can make their OCS/WOFT mission as well as their senior mission. Google around for Tampa Recruting Company phone number or just get any of the recruiters to give your the 1SG #. They all have it, I promise. It just sucks that I have a 3 and a half month pause in my process. Fort Stewart is the base Army applicants in my area are assigned too, but they only have 1 flight surgeon so they only see "local" applicants (I'm all the way down in Tampa). So I called every base in Florida and the only one that would give me an appointment was the one in Jacksonville, I'm on a waiting list at MacDill but told that could/would also be months. hey it could be worse! I did my physical they told me I was good to go, then got a call that my physical was stamped DQ. For my eyes. 90 day healing process for the surgery. Packets done besides that though. I've read up on the "standards" and the only thing I'm a bit worried about is possibly being put in Dental Class III due to my wisdom teeth (they aren't hurting me but are coming in and may need to be removed). If I am deemed temporarily unfit because of this, will my physical stop? Or will I be allowed to continue and make sure everything else like eyes, EKG etc. will meet the standard? If I am allowed to continue and pass the remainder of my physical, do I simply have to be reexamined by an army dentist after they are removed, or do I have to redo the entire exam? I understand this is a what-if question but the appointment is far away and I really don't want to have to go back a second time for a minor medical confirmation. Recruiters hate WOFT packets because its work for them that doesn't do anything for them and takes up time they could be doing other things. I'm pretty blessed that my recruiters are going out of their way, for the most part, to push me through the process. I just try to be proactive without being too annoying. I have been reading the AR 40-501 (Standards of Medical Fitness) and it appears as though I may have a problem. My next step is to schedule a Flight Physical however I don't want to waste anyone's time if I can't pass it. My issue is 3 broken teeth, 2 of which are broken below the gum line. I believe this will be a no-go for dental so I am looking into getting it taken care of prior to the Flight Phys. I have heard of Flight Surgeons dictating a Class III for minor issues but signing off that it can be taken care of once in the Army. That seems too good to be true so I am just going to assume that wouldn't be the case for me. So, any alternatives to get this fixed are extremely costly and I am sure, time consuming. I am trying to get the Flight Phys this month but somehow I doubt they will look kindly on recent oral surgery. My options: 1. Get evaluated by civilian dentist and layout cost and timeline for bridges or crowns. 2. Get extractions (not sure if this would be acceptable for Flight Phys). 3. I would consider forgetting all about your teeth ever being broken. Unless its super obvious, they aren;t ever going to ask you if you've ever had any of your teeth broken.. I like option 3 too, since I wouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg for a couple of teeth... but I believe they consider broken teeth hazardous to your health since there can be complications such as infection associated with them. AR 40-501, 2-5. Dental c. Current insufficient natural healthy teeth (521) or lack of a serviceable prosthesis that prevents adequate incision and mastication of a normal diet and/or includes complex (multiple fixtures) dental implant systems with associated complications are disqualifying. Individuals undergoing endodontic care are acceptable for entry in the Delayed Entry Program only if a civilian or military provider provides documentation that active endodontic treatment will be completed prior to being sworn into active duty. I have talked to a couple installations regarding the dental portion of the Flight Physical. They all have said to just come in so they can evaluate it. They won't know if it's a Class 2 or 3 problem unless they see it. Hoping I can get away with a Class 2. We shall see. Thanks for the help, man!
