In flight School right now? KEEP PICTURES and INFO!!!

Recommended Posts

Years ago when I went to flight school, I did not keep many pictures, nor did I keep copies of a lot of things. For those of you in Flight School NOW, I'd recommend keeping everything you can get your hands on...pictures, orders, rosters, class standing stuff....anything and everything and keep track of it....put it all in a file that will follow you around or something. Label the pictures as to who is in them...classmates, wives, TAC officers, what the pic is/was about...everything!! You might be 24 years old now, but in a couple of weeks you are gonna be 64 and wish you had all that stuff. Go ahead and laugh at my math if you want, but looking backwards it sure seems like 3 months ago and not 40 years ago that I was in Flight School at Mother Rucker. Time WILL GO BY faster than you can imagine right now and so will your time as an Army pilot...and then your next career, too!

Great idea Sir! With all due respect, your aging yourself! All our pictures are digital, everyone with a brain scans their docs and takes them with them every where on a tablet, and all our files are in the cloud! Again, I mean no disrespect, just thought this was a funny comparison of old and new.

Thank you for your service!

Definitely keep all that stuff. That way you can look back and say, here's the idiot that destroyed his helicopter because he got lost and flew into power lines in Bosnia yet was still able to get promoted to LTC and compete for a BN Command.

Yeah, Walkerman is right, generation tweet posts every second of their lives on facebook and twitter (I had a donut for bfast by the way and it was #awesome!) so its all up there "forever".

Of course with global warming and the ever increasing overpopulation, in 40 years the world will probably look like it did in Soylent Green, and we'll all be trying to turn that "cloud" into food!

...what happened to my 20s?

Or the WO3 that thought he could make it under the wire but clipped off the MMS of a 58.

Just saying, ROs don't have a monopoly on doing stupid things.

There's an old saying, still rings true after many years, What's the last words a pilot says...."Hey Dude, watch this!!"

Also ensure you just take plenty of pics of your time in the military. There's been multiple deployments that I look back on and wish I had taken more pics :(

I second that. I'm getting ready to go back states side and I already wish I had more pictures. Some things you never forget but nothing beats a good photo.

I thought it was, "Bro, hold my beer."
