rrhoads17
What is the general timeline from the day you are selected, BCT, WOCS and Flight School? Ive heard conflicting answers. Also, how long is the normal wait to go to BCT once the contract is signed?
johnhenry
BCT is 10 weeks, WOCS is 6 weeks in Ft. Rucker and they are back to back. Then flight school is about 2 years, I believe. How long it takes to go to BCT varies a lot depending on slots. Was that your question?
rrhoads17
Yes, thank you. When do you encounter the biggest waiting period between phases? I have heard there is usually a long wait between WOCS and Flight School.
Tough Actin
I am also curious about something. I will be coming from the Navy and have to go to BCT. Anyone know how quickly that could happen or has happened recently?
Brian101193
Can you move to Fort Rucker after completing BCT, or do you have to wait until you finish WOCS?
Tough Actin
I remember reading that if you were going through flight school you would PCS to Rucker before WOCS. I think it was on the USAREC website.
napoleonpp
I went to WOCS in 2013. I was picked up as Active Duty so it may vary. I believe I had the option to move my wife before or after WOCS, I decided after just so she could spend more time with her family before I drag her away from them. As far as bubbles and waiting periods. I graduated WOCS right before Christmas Break and started BOLC in te beginning of January. I really didn't hit any bubbles. I think my longest one might have only been acouple weeks. I already had SERE completed from my last job, thank goodness, so pretty much went straight from WOCS to BOLC to Primary, with maybe acouple week bubbles at the most. I think I waited like a month for my advance course. It really just depends on how lucky you are. I've heard of people having months between phases.
SBuzzkill
The whole process varies from year to year, month to month but generally it's 1.5-2 years for everything with the least amount of time between BCT and WOCS and the biggest bubbles seeming to be from WOCS to IERW or IERW to FSXXI. But it all boils down to timing. Being flexible and realizing that you have minimal control over your timelines/locations is important, especially over the next decade. Stability is a luxury! Good luck. Edited January 22, 2016 by SBuzzkill
Creep0321
I am at B Co now on hold for primary. I finished WOCS in october, rolled right into WOBC, and dunker. Finished those back in mid November. I am also a SERE bypass, but I won't start primary till Feb 22, so 3 month wait there, which is on the shorter side. Advanced track hold guys seem to be waiting anywhere from 2 to 6 months right now.
Drew
I was selected January 2015, didn't report to Rucker until September, finished SERE in Novenber, and start IERW today. Holds and timeline are different for everybody.

Drew
I was already in the army. Prior commission so I didn't have to attend BCT, WOCS, or WOBC. Still didn't speed up my timeline at all. They do Common Core (IERW) start dates based off in processing date into B Co. They definitely don't fast track any active duty through. Drew
I beg to differ lol.Unless your Heppner, then you can brown nose your way into starting before anyone else... Lol. When did you I process into B Co??
cptamerica2
If you're active duty, be aware that national guard gets priority on IERW slots, and count on sitting in B co longer than some of you peers. We had guard guys go straight to primary right out of SERE, while we waited almost a month to start.
Tough Actin
B Co sounds awesome. What does that entail? Standing watch and busy work? Doesn't sound that bad to me.
Creep0321
It's not bad... studying and pt.
Tough Actin
Sounds like an easy way to earn a paycheck. And I'm sure as much study time as possible is appreciated.
dnanelson81
Â You are correct, I just read that under the Q&A section on USARECThat is only if you are prior service army if you are street to seat you won't be able to move your family to rucker until after wocs, at least not on the army's dime. dirtyfoot
3 months hold for BOLC. 3 months hold for Common Core. 5 months hold for Advanced. I got my airframe of choice, so I'm still a happy camper, but it's been a long stupid drawn out process. No injuries/family drama/legal bs, just bad luck with the course start dates. So many criticisms I'd like to make, but for the sake of professionalism, I take a daily drive out to ech lake where I direct a barrage of obscenity at a certain organization for about 15 minutes with nothing but the squirrels to hear me. Then I sit quietly in my car while I softly cry into my -10. Â Really though, it's the easiest job I've ever had, and the family time is great so it isn't as bad as it sounds. Plenty of time to study for sure.

StockTrader
What were you doing during the holds? How long was your entire process from WOCS to graduation? They will find stuff for you to do. Bank on Honors detail(funerals). They have changed a lot of things recently as far as where you must be and for how long so someone else will have to speak to how B co is now. Some details are better than others. I got to escort the chief of staff for the Army of another country one day which was pretty cool. Also got to knock out ALSE and the hyperbaric chamber while I was waiting. Take the time to memorize the 5's and 9's for your aircraft, even if you have no idea what they mean. It will make life a lot easier once you start primary. Yamer
Hyperbaric chamber was cool. Definitely not a useful tool for me at this point, maybe ever, but cool and another free notch on the belt
