M9 Holsters for flight crews

Recommended Posts

Had a quick question on what everyone here likes to use for a holster. I have been looking at some blackhawk brand holsters that have a belt holster with a quick disconnect that you can move from your hip to a mount on the ALSE vest. I was just wondering if you guys had other recommendations for what you used on a deployment. I'm MEDEVAC so hopefully I can find something that can be moved quickly without a lot of interference inside the cockpit.

I went with the blackhawk hip holster with a paddle mount that I wore when I wasn't flying. It's been like 2 years, but I'm PRETTY sure that I just moved the gun to the issued holster that I had mounted on my overlay. (Sidenote, if you somehow get the choice between overlay and regular vest, TAKE THE VEST.)

Comfortable when I wasn't flying, didn't have to spend an arm and a leg for the quick disconnect stuff.

Do any of you current pilots have the inside track on which handgun has a leg up in the competition? I'm hoping the Sig P320 is selected.

With all the budget cuts, I doubt there will be a replacement.

If they had started in 2005 there would've been plenty of funds.

I've used both the vest mount and the hip, similar to the Safariland mentioned. With the vest mount, I had 2 holsters to quickly swap from walking around the FOB to launching for a mission. Last rotary deployment just used the slim M9 hip holster with no body armor/vest doning issues.
