How does your SIFT measure up?

Recommended Posts

Dirty,

That's the truth. Honestly, the word I have gotten is that people just don't put their packets up. I've talked to great soldiers that want to do it but find every excuse not spend the time doing the paper work. Pretty straightforward litmus test to be an officer: do you have the attention span to do a stack of paper work where the instructions are spelled out for you?

Strange times I guess

Definitely not many people take the time to complete their packets. But even those that do still have hurdles. Best friend is 68W and began his packet with legit scores, LORs, and APFT score. during flight physical the flight surgeon sent him for psych eval and they did a sleep study (he's had ambien prescription since completing his first tour). Didn't get stamped because of that and apparently was no waiver for it. I guess now he's going to see what he needs to do to become flight medic...

Muffin,

I was not trying to lump those not medically qualified into the same category. More or less it seems there are a great deal of medically qualified people that just don't try.

I do think doing the application and then getting medically DQ is actually uncommon. Typically, most people who have a legitimate issue kind of steer clear of aviation if their situation is not temporary.

But I know really good guys that just will not apply to save their life....that's the part I was getting at.

No worries Sapper,

I totally agree with you. From the civilian side, the fact that only two people (myself and another guy that got selected) even TOOK the SIFT test at Dallas MEPS is a pretty sad stat in my opinion.

I was trying more than anything, to bring another viewpoint to the conversation. I think we were on the same metaphorical page of things, just maybe different paragraphs hahaha

  • 2 weeks later...

I also think civilians have higher sift scores because they are generally closer to the school age, or have advanced beyond high school. Most of the people on here that are active have been in for 6-12 years and haven't opened a math book in years. 6+ years out of high school you forget how to math. At least that was my case. 52 is still passing "Cs get degrees"

I had a Soldier who recently PCSd to my platoon and he said he was waiting on his warrant packet to board in two weeks. That was the November board of last year. I was like wow that's awesome I'm working on my packet too! I proceeded to ask him questions about his packet to see how competitive he would be against me. (He's a SPC) He told me he scored a 87 on the SIFT and got a LOR from a general. I was like...87? That's good man! I was pretty sure 80 was the max. So I researched it before I said anything. I questioned him some more I was like what other letters did you get? He was like well I just got the general, cause who else would you need if your post commander says you're hot sh*t. I was like okay but it's required to have company and BN commander lors. He changed his story like well yeah I got those but the general is the only one I care about. I was like ah okay cool. Long long story short, I waited two weeks until the results came out and low and behold his name was NOWHERE on the list, I was like hey man why isn't your name on the list he was like "well I didn't get picked up so my name won't be on it" I was like do you have some kind of mental issue? Or are you just a pathological liar? He looked at me like I was stupid and was like " I should be good on the next board I get two looks". SMH. Needless to say when he got into trouble a few weeks later and got an art15 the commander asked my opinion of if he was telling the truth and I said nope, told him the above story and he was like wtf. Guilty. Ha liars get caught up eventually.

Insight, get over yourself bro. Just because people score better than you, does not mean they are liars. Look at how many people get selected, and how many are posting here it is a very small percentage. And then consider all those that do not get selected, or even apply because they fail

Probably 75%, or more of the sift scores people are reporting on this site are bullshit.

The SIFT scores you see being reported here are total bullshit.

If you read posts from just this forum, you would think the average Sift-Test-score was a 78.

Lots of liars.. Not important though.

He was mad before too. Like explained in other threads on this website; the scores you see here tend to be higher than normal. Maybe because the people who post here are more committed to success. Maybe it's just a fluke. Who knows. My 78 is legitimate. It's no concern to me if you believe it. That's what's in my packet.

We don't need this attitude in Army Aviation, nor in this forum. Accept people are going to be better than you in some aspects, it's part of life. Get over yourself.

Nobody even knows if the board looks at your SIFT score. That's my favorite part of this, for all we know, they just look at it as a pass or fail.

Exactly. I think(hope) they view the applicants as a whole individual. Just because I scored high doesn't really mean anything.

Lol I said shots fired on the other post where he said that didn't see yours so don't think I'm copying you!

No worries! Just riling her up a little.

I have seen two people on here say they got an 80. Two. That's it. And maybe a couple more say they got a 78. Your exaggeration of this is overwhelming and wildly inaccurate. I see dozens of scores in the 50s and 60s. In a forum generally full of people trying to help each other out and guiding quality applicants through the process, you calling people liars using wildly exaggerated numbers and with no proof is just simply not welcome. If that means I have an attitude, then you need some thicker skin. If you think I'm condescending and mean, just wait until you meet your first IP if you ever get that far.
