Dmurray
I know the May board hasn't happened yet. I'm sure there's plenty of you who are waiting for the July board. So here goes nothing! Post your stats. Here's mine: Age: 26 GT: 118 SIFT: 78 APFT: 274 Military: E-6, 7 years in reserves, one deployment, WLC, currently attending ALC. Education: 50 credits, automotive technology, 3.5 gpa. LOR: CW5 47 driver, Battalion CSM, Company Commander, Platoon Sergeant, Civilian Employer Vice President, Former manager. Physical: stamped, no waiver Battalion Board: scheduled 8 June. When I posted in the May thread, I thought I only had 39 credits for what ever reason. Turns out I gained 11 when I went and got an updated transcript.

steve0
Just updated my pt, got it up to 295. Civilian, going for 2nd look, didn't get picked up in March Age: 30Afqt/Gt: 99/142Sift: 75Apft: 295Bachelor degree: economics (low gpa though, 2.4, f*cked off my first 2 years before getting it together)Lor: 2 former bosses, 1 martial arts coach, 1 retired Col, 1 CW5 national guardLASIK No flight hours Still waiting on one last lor, hoping to get another CW5, he said he will review my packet and let me know if I can come in for an interview. Biggest difference this board is the lor s from the officers. Didn't know anyone in the army, so the day after I didn't get selected in March I just started cold calling bases and sending messages to unit pages on Facebook. Looked up local news articles about army helicopters, the photos would usually have a caption with the pilots name, I would look them up on Facebook and send a message. Eventually got in touch with some good people, got a mini tour of the local apache unit. Really learned a lot by sitting down and talking to the pilots.

BrightShadow
Sorry to hear man. I would look into the Marines. You have a Bachelors so you could apply to the 10 week OCS program. It's tough and you'd have to take PT pretty seriously, I say this because developing serious upper body strength to do a lot of good form pull-ups and then running 3 miles in a good time takes commitment. 'I THINK' the age limit for aviation is 28, may be younger though. Anyways I recommend the Marines because you can go to OCS on an aviation contract. Meaning you are not competing with your Officer Candidate peers at OCS and fellow Lts at TBS for a flight slot, it is reserved for you. Just graduate the courses and you head to Pensacola for flight school. Look into it man, you may already be too old at 26 but call a USMC Officer Selection Office and ask. Same deal as the Army, make them tell you no. The Air Force is HIGHLY competitive for Non-RPA slots out of flight school as that community is booming. And if you want to be an Air Force RPA guy then accept you will be either deployed or stationed at one of three Air Force bases your entire career (all in the desert). However the bigger challenge is going from civ to USAF OTS. There are helo pilots in the Air Force and their jobs are awesome but keep in mine you need to be top of you class to snag those as they are pretty much all special mission jobs. Don't know anything about the Navy other than videos of carrier landing look really cool. Good luck! Edit: just got this text from my sister who goes to Marine OCS this winter (dear lord the cold!) on an Air contract "Based on what I read: Must enter pilot training by 26 or 27. 27 1/2 or greater, but less than 29 at date of commissioning require an age waiver. www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/reference/milpersman/1000/1500Training/Documents/1542-010.pdf* Naval aviation site I would have him confirm with recruiter or OSO."
rogersndr
Thanks for all the good information! I have a friend that is in the Navy that just got approved for flight school so talking to him it's something I'm going to look into currently. Sucks of course I'll have to do all the physicals, testing, etc all over again but one way or another I plan on flying. He was saying the same thing age wise so as long as I can get through the paperwork process and boards I'll be in before my time runs out. I would prefer to take the Army route but now it's looking like Marines/Navy. I'm not much on boats, but my desire to fly outweighs that. A new route but the same goal. Good luck to you all! Jhanner1
Wow. That doesn't give much hope to any waivers if that was denied. Do you have your PPL or just 46 hours?
