SEPT 2016 WOFT SELECTION BOARD

Recommended Posts

Another thing they did was ask me the names of the pilots who gave me recommendation letters. Felt like a test. Im sure there must be boards where people go in there with LOR from pilots and they can't even remember what their name and rank was. If you are going in for your interview, make sure you at least can name the people who wrote you LORs.

The board asked me if I would consider doing OCS instead of woft since i have no flight experience.

Same for me. Told me I'm taking a big risk by choosing WOFT over OCS, because my WOFT chances are lower(not true). If that's the biggest risk I take in my military service, I would consider it an uneventful career.

Wow, up until now I've only heard that the interview is faily laid back as long as you are prepared.

This process certainly is a rollercoaster. Finished my flight physical, finally, which was the last step for my packet. But unfortunately couldn't get it stamped before my batallion board (which would have been yesterday). So I will not be making the September board. Good luck to those of you that will be going to the September board. I'll be on to the November board.

I am curious, though, if going to the board at the end of or beginning of the fiscal year makes any difference. If they are more strict at the beginning of the year or maybe have extra slots to fill at the end of the year.

My first time it was mostly laid back, and their criticism, while harsh, was on point. Walked out of the room feeling pretty good.

This time I left the room feeling like they were thinking to themselves, "I hope the Army never lets him get within 10 miles of a helicopter." And they actually scored me 1 point higher this time!

Where are you boarding out of? Sounds like they really want to discourage you from being able to get in.

Do any of you happen to know the exact civilian application deadline for this board? The consensus on VR seems to be 10 business days before the board convenes, so with it convening 12-16 Sept, and factoring in the Labor Day holiday, that points to this Friday, 26 Aug. My recruiters don't know and have been trying to find out for the past few days, but I thought I might get a faster answer here. I'd greatly appreciate someone being able to confirm this for us civilians.

Greetings ladies and gentlemen. Unfortunately, the optometrist in my flight phys. misdiagnosed me with Keratoconus. This setback has caused me to miss the board because I had to get a second opinion. Does anybody know how long it takes Rucker to get this info. I'm afraid that time is going to slip away. I'm ready to serve.

I have also heard that 10 days is the "requirement". But in reality most battalion's did their boards two weeks ago or before. If you haven't gone to a BN board then you need to shoot for November. Once you go through the BN board they pretty much handle your packet and send it to USAREC with the recommendations of the officers on the board. Your recruiter needs to talk to his BN operations and figure out when their their board is going to be.

If they are utterly clueless call some other office and see if they sound like they know what they are doing and are willing to work with you.

I've posted my stats a couple times before, but I was getting ahead of myself and missed all those boards. Just got off the phone with my recruiter and now that I have officially gotten my packet in the hands of USAREC after 3 recruiting offices and 2 different Battalions. I wanted to post again to feel I accomplished something and just get hype for this board. Feels good to be here.

I actually have my BN board this Wed. Aug 31. So it could still be right around the corner (pretty much this week).

You should be good then. They are cutting it close but I dont think they would schedule a board and not intend to get your packet in. The guys doing the board know when your packet is due and will pretty much tell your recruiter what to do if you get recommended. Talk to the bn operations guy when you go to your board or make sure your recruiter does.

Make that two of us. Found out today. Also got confirmation the overall deadline is this Friday, 2 Sept, so 10 calendar days before the board convenes, including holidays.

It seems to me that all recruiting battalions seem to do their own thing. My battalion board for the September USAREC board was August 10. And my packet was due about 10 days prior to that. They were, however, pretty lenient on that and allowed me to turn my packet in late. I still missed the deadline by a day or two and will now be moving on to ththe November board. Battalion board is October 19 and my packet is ready to go.
