TSU2007
Edit: I'm back to the drawing board. I didn't realize the lengths applicants typically went to to fit as many words as possible in the essay.
MckeeC
From what I understand talking about family who have served is a good idea. It does seem like that is the majority of the essay though. Also, it seems very short. Are you writing small? It's been a while since I looked at mine but I'm pretty sure mine was about three times the length. Like you said, you can probably write a ten pages on it so if it isn't already, I'd make it take up that entire page.

I'm back to the drawing board expanding on almost everything.
Dmurray
You have to consider how much room the hand written version will take up in the page.
Randomguy
Hey all, just to clarify because I've been given mixed answers by several people. The essay is 1 page, single or double spaced?

The essay is 1 page, single or double spaced?Mine was actually spaced to 1.5. Not sure how much it matters. Honestly don't remember why I did 1.5 but I know I was able to just fit my full handwritten essay on one piece of paper.

I didn't realize the lengths applicants typically went to to fit as many words as possible in the essay. The goal is not to fit as many words in as possible. The end state is to clearly convey your best selling points in a concise format with the fewest amount of words. We only have a couple of minutes to review your entire application. First and last paragraphs are the most impactful. Prioritize your key points you want the board member to read and remember. If you write a novel, even the good stuff will get lost in the text. Mike-Thanks Mike. I did my best to provide a sufficient answer to the question as concisely as possible. It's probably on the shorter side but I avoided using fluff so hopefully it'll work out well.
