Saw a topic over at JH about Upper Limit in SLC "imploding" can anyone elaborate?

Upper Limit's situation is a lot like Silver State Helicopters of 9 years ago: the students had access to easy money but the cash cow dried up. Silver State benefitted from easy money from banks, Upper Limit from the government. Both abused it. A DPE that did many of Upper Limit's GI bill students told me that most of students for commercial check rides had run up bills of $300,000, some as hight as $500,000. Upper Limit will probably go the way of Silver State. Tango uniform.

Avoid Upper Limit at all costs. They're going under on the instruction side, and are trying to stay afloat with external load, charter, and fire work, but that'll probably fail too because they don't have a foothold. Other operators will beat them out in those sectors.

Sounds like the same thing is happening to the school we went to as well. I've seen them pushing their new charter service and utility services lately. Can't imagine them holding up very long. Also can't imagine there being enough private pay (non VA funded) students attending to maintain their sizable R44 fleet. Both are likely being hit hard by the VA and public scrutiny of the VA flight training programs.

There seems to be more news?

This quote is from a year ago I think and makes me wonder just what does it take to graduate and what high paying jobs are they getting offered?

The program is so new that we haven't graduated our first class yet." Treanor said. "But we have some individuals who haven't even graduated yet that have been offered high paying jobs."

Welp, if you like Utah, you can check out Mountain Ridge Helicopters up in Logan. Unlike the guys down south, the managers actually care about following rules and make sure no one is getting more than the VA would realistically pay for. Id say about half the people are doing it Part 61, and the other half are doing it Part 141 through Utah State. They seem to be growing at a healthy rate.
