Yamadoopolcat
Robinson is down to just one series of rotor blade for all the R44 variants now.It is the -7 blades that came out for the Raven II, and the wider rotor blade was to give the Raven II better altitude performance. Now that the -7 blade is being installed on the Raven I, I'm curious if anyone has noticed any better altitude performance for the Raven I with the wider blades? Rich1
I have had both series blades on the same Raven 1...and do a fair amount of mountain flying...and almost all of my flying at 4000 MSL and above. While not scientific, but rather anecdotal experience, I have noticed an improvement in speed as well as improved auto characteristics with these new blades. The ability to tell major differences at higher altitudes I think is a bit dicier because there are so many variables of alt, temp, winds, engine performance, etc. My instincts/experience seem to suggest to me there is improved performance at altitude over the old series blades, but that may be because that is what I'm expecting to see:-) My thin nickel for what little it buys downtown... Any upgrade to the 204/205 over the years always came with a wider blade as well.I just wonder what the old 204 could do with some of the wider blades they are using now.
