Have looked around this forum sight for quite some time just trying to gather as much information as I can. Really enjoy the community that this website brings together. Looking at prior candidates for previous boards can get somewhat intimidating. Submitted for the January board.

I have posted on the last two board dates thinking that I would make it, but for one reason or another the recruiters managed to not get my packet submitted. So maybe third time is a charm.

Been working on this packet over a year now and its been complete for about 3-4 months but the recruiters wait until the last minute to submit it and then realize something wasn't done correctly. Still waiting for the MEPS security guy to sign off and then should be good to submit.... and waiting on a date for the battalion board. I'm losing a lot of faith in these recruiters.

Congratulations to those who just got selected, and good luck to those of you that will be attending this next board with me (hopefully).

Well, looks like I'm moving on to the March board, as well. I got the go ahead from meps security guy but now I'm being told by the recruiters that the next board isn't until march. Regardless of the fact that there is a January board showing on the USAREC website. But if they don't send me to a battalion interview then I can't proceed to the USAREC board.... And now I have to redo my PT test because it will expire next month.

I had some confusion with my recruiter as well about the January board... He said the WOFT guy from battalion told him that there would not be one so we are waiting for the March one. Glad at least the information is correct across the board. Rather bummed to have to wait longer though..

As long as the USAREC website still shows a January board, take what your recruiters are saying with a grain of salt.

eaelliott5,

Have you gotten your recruiting center leader involved with your packet? I see you've been jerked around a bit, so this could definitely help. That was my experience. Once my center leader realized what was going on with my packet, he knew what he had to do and had the resources to make it happen. The USAREC website recommends a second set of eyes reviews your packet at the recruiting center before submitting to the battalion, anyway. There's no reason your recruiting center can't submit your packet to the battalion now so they already have it, everything's been checked over 6-9 times, and you're just waiting for your battalion board interview. Speaking of which, the battalion should also know when they're doing their next one since they also do OCS applicants and need to do them somewhat regularly, at least quarterly. Try to find out when the next one is, and when their deadline is. Your center leader should be able to find out for you if your recruiter has any trouble. If all else fails, calling the battalion itself to ask these questions might snap your recruiters into shape.

Gideon,

If all you need is your battalion board interview, see above. If you're waiting on any other items, keep pushing until those are complete, then see above.

There have been so many changes in my recruiting center in the year that I've been working on this packet. I've been bounced back and forth from recruiter to recruiter so many times. Including working with the lead recruiter. Things seem to be on track now. My packet is complete but now I will have to redo my PT test because it will expire in January. If they don't get it submitted as soon as that is done, I will definitely be contacting battalion. Thanks for the info, this is such a stressful process. But every time I get feed up, I just have to remember that it will be worth it in the long run.

I have a date of February 8 for my battalion board, that has yet to be confirmed, though.

Is there anyone that has fairly recently been selected and does not have to go to basic? I'm just curious as to what the turn around time is from being selected to getting a WOCS date. And if that's flexible or if you have to take the first available class. I'm interested in leaving as soon as possible and have nothing keeping me from doing so, just curious as to what the rules are.

Thanks.

I understand what you all mean about getting fed up. Having worked on this packet since early 2015, my patience levels have reached their max with this last recruiter. Had one disappear for months while in Guam, rest have strung me along. I've decided to drop the AD route and enlist as a 15 whatever with the California NG. Looking to make either their June aviation board or whichever board comes after that. Probably go 15P so I'll be the donkey processing your flight plans and logging your hours at Rucker.

This website has been extremely helpful. Solid people on this forum. Especially Shindigg. Good luck to you all on your upcoming boards. Thanks again.

I have thought about asking around to see about the January board. But my recruiter was also the one initially pushing for the November board so he wants me to get it done ASAP. Also, with multiple others facing the same problem, I am more confident in the information I have gathered. Luckily I have only been working on this since May. But even I am ready to get going. So I can't imagine how you multiyear guys are feeling...

I was selected in July and I started WOCS in October. Some people I was with waited up to 6 months, some less than a month.

Just like dmurray said, there are many factors when. The biggest is if you have to the 5 week or 7 week course. There are a lot more 5 week courses through the year compared to the limited 7 week course.
