zaurus
Hoorah for those who are assigned that particular additional duty while waiting in flight school. I had the pleasure in seeing your work in action over the weekend in a very small town of Dixons Mills Al. The immediate family could not thank you guys enough, very impressed. Hell, so was I. Professionally done without a Lieutenant in sight. My wife's Stepfather at the age of 90 was buried there with full military honors. A retired Sergeant with 23 years of active duty service including WWII, and the Korean War conflict. A volunteer who initially started his career in the segregated Military where his full potential would not be considered. That old retired Sergeant would have been very proud indeed and impressed as well. Great job future Army aviators. A very memorable event during a solemn occasion. Respectfully from a very old classmate of WOC 68-29 and D Trp 1/4 Cav 1st ID RVN. Scout out.
itsbigfootguys
For every WO1 and 2LT who complains about Honors - Read this and remember, you could be the last official representative of the Army to the family of that person. Honors may be frustrating sometimes, but there are worse details. When you look back on it, you will appreciate it.
mike0331
This^Only done it on the USMC side, and attended that many more funerals where there was a detail. It means everything to the families and as much as I loathe drill and ceremony, it really is an honor at the end of the day. Can't stress how much it means for many of families who often find themselves in some of the worst days of their lives. Mike
