May 2017 WOFT Board

Recommended Posts

19 May was the cutoff for the July board and 21 July is the cutoff for the September board. This information can be found on the USAREC warrant officer site.

I was going to say, I am a civilian applicant and I swear my recruiter is telling me different dates than what the USAREC site is saying..

I believe those cutoff dates are used so that if your packet requires any waivers or corrections it gives you adequate time before the board. It was my understanding that if you submIt after those dates there is not a guarantee your packet will be seen by the board. I may be wrong, but that is what I was told.

Might not be related, but I do remember feeling the same about my recruiter saying different dates when I first started. It may be that he is talking about the Battalion level boards (the interview step in the packet), and those are pretty sporadic.

Can you be a civilian and apply for a WOFT spot?

I exited active duty from the Marine Corps last January and when I was discussing Army aviation with a WO recruiter he said I would need to enlist into a unit first and then apply for a WO pilot spot.

I'm a little confused. From reading through here it appears that people who are out of the military or in other branches reserve/active components are able to apply.

I had the same issue with my recruiter which is how I found out that I believe the deadlines aee different. He told me to ignore the ones on usarec and he had others. So glad we were all in the same boat :P

Also on the WOCS classes, in March the soonest was January 2018.

Can anyone break down the difference between the 7 week resident course and the DL + 5 week resident course? My recruiters were not able to explain the difference, and who attends what course.

I am a PS USMC E5 with Sergeants Course, which to my understanding would place me in the DL + 5 week course.

I also second that WOCS date.

Congrats to everyone selected.

Curious on timing, I'm overseas with an indefinite deros (hawaii). If I get selected and go to this Jan 2018 WOCS class date, will my wife stay in Hawaii under Hawaii BAH or do we PCS both to Alabama? Is this a PCS or considered a TDY?

I see you quoted me in this but unfortunately I am coming from civilian with no prior service in my immediate family so I honestly bave no clue. Hopefully one of the vets of the forums can get this sorted out for ya!

If you're an army street to seat noob like me you go to the 7 week course. Prior enlisted should be in the 5 week course unless they fail to complete the online portion. There may be other criteria that I don't know about.

All the guys that I know who came in from other branches had to do the 7 week course.

Your move to Rucker will be a PCS.

This is correct for sister service as well correct? And is there any option that you know of to not have that happen and instead treat it as a TDY? Wife landed an awesome GS job but needs to stay there 4 years to finish out the contract, so it would be ideal to keep here there if that is an option, with BAH there.
