Rechargeable Headset Batteries?

Recommended Posts

The only info I could find on this was a thread from way back in 2010. That is lightyears in some areas of the technology industry.

I am curious if anyone has had luck using rechargeable batteries with an ANR headset? If so what brand?

I have the PFX, I think it's a great headset performance wise, but I am disgruntled with how quickly it churns through batteries. It has added a decent cost to my work expenses when flying large survey contracts.

Thanks

I think you might save some money going with rechargeables but it does send up a red flag that you're so concerned with the cost of batteries. Amazon sells 100 AA's for $20, grab 2 of those and they should last you 1000 hours in the PFX. (They say 4 AA's will last 20 hours) Is $40 a year too much to spend on batteries in your situation? Just seems like you're splitting hairs.

Use rechargeable in all my flashlights. Fresh set in the charger or in my flight bag all the time. Read the specs of the device carefully, some rechargeable throw a lot more current and generate a lot of heat in doing so.

I used rechargeable energizer batteries in my Lightspeed Zulu 2s and I am pretty sure all the instructors used some sort of rechargeable batteries too. I had 2 in my headset, and then typically another 2 in my headset bag and 4 non rechargeable in the bag too. I tried to change the batteries once a week and I think I only ran into an issue twice and found out the hard way that ANR without batteries sucks... I never noticed any difference when using rechargeable batteries.

Azhigher,

Thanks for the tip on the cheap amazon batteries. Hadn't thought of that for some reason. Was paying much more for copper tops previously. Ordered a bunch.

Thanks again
