Anyone know what the on post housing is like for single Warrants?   I'm trying to decide between on and off post.

So I need an opinion, I'm still Rucker now waiting to start WOCS next week and I told the housing office that I wanted a 3 bedroom home in Allen heights so they reserved the house for us. But my wife and I opted that we would rather stay on the wait list for Bowden and they told us they would keep our Allen heights house resverved for us, but when a house in Bowden comes available around December 20th (WOCS Graduation) or earlier they will let us know and we can decide to take that house. I guess my question is will it be likely a house comes available in Bowden between now and the end of December with only 2 or 3 people ahead of me on the wait list? Sorry for the book lol

Were you also single? You got a 2 bedroom house while single?  Did you have to split it with anyone?

Yes, I was single. Had a 2 bedroom duplex to myself. You can get a 2 bedroom for yourself and pay the full amount, or get a 3 bedroom with a roommate and split the rent.

Im assuming many of you have families. Did the Army move your family after Basic or after WOCS? I keep finding conflicting information. We even asked the online Army Recruiting and they didn't know much about WOFT. I have looked all over the forum and have not found a response. Please help. thanks

They will move your family after Basic. Just make sure that it is on your final orders cut before graduation, because they sometimes dont get that right.

Glad to see this topic is alive again. I was selected in the Jan(Feb) board, still awaiting class dates but does anyone have a link to the post housing options? Trying to find the specific rules regarding pets but I'm pretty sure I know the answer already.

I've got two dogs, a German Shepherd and Doberman...and fairly certain the Dobie disqualifies me from on-post housing. Only ran into one post that will allow a Doberman, but it had to be the only dog.

Can anyone off-post recommend a particular area or house finding solution for renters?

Corvias is the on post housing contractor and you are correct no Dobermans allowed. I would look in the Enterprise AL area, its close to post and has the normal suburban stores, restaurants etc.

Anyone have experience with living in an RV during flight school? As a single guy, it seems like a good idea, and I hear there are lots of trailer parks to choose from with short commutes. Are there any cons I'm not seeing? Aside from the fact that you're living in a trailer?

Why not just go for the "Van down by the River"

A guy in my son's class lived in a trailer, seemed to work ok for him. He bought the trailer when he got there, lived in it and then sold it for what he paid for it when he left. Kept a good chunk of his BAH every month.

In the latest edition of "I wonder if my wife would kill me if..." that actually sounds brilliant.

At my reserve unit some of our senior staff were brought in from other parts of the country for our deployment. In the 6 months or so leading up to it and the last few months after we got back we had a SMAJ living in an RV in the headquarters parking lot. Talk about a convenient commute.

I know a few guys who are doing it. One lives on base and its like 300 a month but there is no sewage hook ups and they have to move every 3 months or so from one spot to another. So if you dont mind dealing with poop its not bad, and his drive to the airfield is only 4 min. Have another friend who lives off base at a park that is only a 20min drive I think but pays 400 I think and has full hook ups. I am considering it but my camper is only 19ft so going to have to upgrade. Haha
