Singhdrewan
Hi everyone, I've lurked and posted on here on and off a bit since I began my WOFT packet journey, and among a slew of recruiter problems, deciding to go through with PRK surgery, and other setbacks, I've continued to stay motivated to submit a packet. And as my 6 month "recovery period" from PRK is coming to an end soon, I find myself working hard to improve my PT score and studying for the SIFT (which I should have already taken before my surgery, but my recruiter refused to schedule it for me). But beyond all of this, there's one thing that I haven't changed: I have no college credits. Without going into much detail, I was starting my full time college career when both my parents came down with life-threatening ailments during my first week of college, which forced me to more or less drop out to take care of them and run our family business. I know that it absolutely isn't a requirement, but I see so many applicants posting with at least some number of college credits, and I'm beginning to get worried about my chances. I noticed that the selection rate has been very high lately, but I can't help but feel worried about my lack of college credits. On one hand, I realize I'll never get accepted if I don't apply, but the other side just can't help but feel at a disadvantage. Do you guys feel like I'm disadvantaged by it? Thanks everyone.
Trogdor
Sure it might hurt your odds a bit but we are hurting for pilots so don't worry about it. Drop your packet. Worrying about it won't help.

Luofynerd
It's commonly referred to as "high school to flight school" which leaves the assumption that a lot of younger applicants don't have much college. Just make up for it with stellar LORs and a decent pt score. In my opinion, college means absolutely nothing if it's not related to the job you seek, I've seen pilots with masters degrees, that can't fly for sh*t. It seems to be an ability that comes naturally to some but not others. So having a cookie cutter masters degree for accounting with emphasis on underwater basket weaving doesn't mean you'll automatically be a great pilot. It just shows that you are committed to self improvement, and can pass a test or two.

I have a couple letters from CW5's, and working on securing an interview or two other senior warrants once I pass my flight physical! PT has been the toughest part of this whole process so far for me. I'm pretty skinny, and was not in the very best shape when I began training (started at 5'11-130 lbs and have gained about 15 pounds so far)

I am always skinny, and very tall so push-ups get me, then I work to get my push-ups good and my upper body balloons up and my legs can't handle the run. I just need to find a happy medium lol. However, in between graduating high school and beginning WOFT, I did no running, and picked up smoking for 6 years. I've since quit, but man was it difficult to run even a half mile when I started running again.

My lungs are clearing up I can breathe better each time I run. Eventually I'll be back in the 13s like when I was a young private

Gideon
Seems to be a fairly valid reason for dropping out of college to me. Just be prepared to answer why you have no college to the battalion board as well. They kinda drilled me for not having my bachelor's (I only graduated with my associates) and even put some pressure on me to finish once I'm in. Could have just been the major I had on my board but still.
