r22butters
Caught part of that Walter Mitty movie the other day and it got me thinking? A lone chopper pilot based in a small town on a sparsely populated island in the middle of nowhere, running supplies here and there,...? Think jobs like this (excluding remote HEMS bases) really exist?

Fred0311
I knew a guy who did something like that from a remote island in Alaska in a R22. Until he got caught in a blizzard and put it in the trees. (He lived) Edited October 5, 2017 by Fred0311
Dedicated Helicopters Inc
That is my old ship! N8585F, last serial number ever built. 20th Century Fox leased it from me for the movie. Shipped it to Iceland for 4 months, flew it 10 hours and shipped her back. Got a chance to take Alan Purwin flying in it before it shipped, he wanted to get a handle on how she operated and had to sit behind me since there is only one pilot seat! Had to get the floats from Australia. Sadly I had to sell her, but she is currently in upstate NY and I get to fly her once in a while. I'll dig up some pics...RIP Alan, you were an awesome person.
