adam32
I'll just patiently wait for a specific SAR job posting and the insurance minimums it requires. Until then...adios!

adam32
https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/470283800What's a NG flight instructor position have to do with this discussion? Â I'll be gone out of service for the next few days, so ya'll have about 55 hours to find a SAR position and it's minimums...
avbug
Or go border patrol. Not so much of the "R" in SAR, but lots of the Search and ...  The border patrol does an enormous amount of rescue, with some sectors counting tens of thousands of saves annually. Due to hostile climate and terrain for those on foot, often R becomes Recovery, too. Why the push for a civilian SAR group? Certainly such positions exist, but most operations with helicopters aren't so specialized, and many are seasonal. Restricting the scope of your search to civil operations doing strictly SAR is like seeking out an airline that only flies passengers wearing orange hats. As far as I know, the jobs aren't posted publicly; there are enough qualified pilots to fill the positions internally.  Most of their flight time is monthly training; actual emergencies that require SAR in the gulf are far and few between. It is also worth noting that less critical medical transports (such as a broken hand) are flown by the normal helicopter assigned to the contract. I flew a guy from a drill rig direct to the hospital a few months back.

It's an instructing gig at a search and rescue squadron. The Moffett bros do a ton of over water SAR and hiker stuff when they aren't training for or deploying for CSAR. So, its a job posting to be a tactical IP at a CSAR unit
METT-TC
Snohomish County Sheriff's Air Unit, Washington-I actually interviewed for it (to include flying / conducting a SAR mission on my first flight). Posting was out there this summer (hopefully Bill has successfully filled the position and the posting is no longer out there). But dedicated air and SUPER dedicated back seaters (paramed / rescue climbers--Everett Mountain Rescue. SAR is the mission with a VERY occasional ground unit support (LEO). Insurance minimums? Well, it is in the public service category, so not so much. But in the west, SAR is a dedicated mission (primary for some such as this one) and it normally resides in the public sector. http://helicopterrescue.org/
pavehawkfavehawk
I follow Snohomish on facebook and have some family up there. That'd be a dream gig out of the USAF, but there's no way I'll have the hours.
mudkow60
My crew and I just assisted a rescue of a downed para-glider with my Huey... guess there are SAR gigs out there.

mudkow60
His original question was concerning SAR options... I think you are using the term hijacked loosely.
