Thedude
There's an army range on Rucker you can shoot at and it's pretty nice. Covered shooting benches, target stands, marked distances. Just have to stop at Range Control, sign for the range, flag, and radio then go across the street and shoot. It's operated just like a normal army range, call for a hot/cold time, call to change OIC if you leave and someone else is shooting, radio checks, etc. Pretty painless process and it's free.
mike0331
I'm assuming that there aren't restrictions on what firearms you can have in base housing as long as they are properly declared, etc? Mike

MikeI didn’t live on post when I was there but I had friends who did and I don’t think there were any restrictions. We hunted hogs on post with registered SBRs and suppressors and there was never any problems. The range restricts use of some firearms, 50BMG wasn’t allowed and I think there may have been a few other restrictions for similar large caliber high power type rounds.

You’ll have plenty of free time especially if you get caught in a bubble. There’s not much better than showing up for formation, being told there’s nothing to do and getting paid to hunt the rest of the day. Lots of turkeys as well, plenty of deer but on post is buck only and they were always hard to find.
Creep0321
On another note, any decent "civilian" ranges on Rucker for those bringing some guns with them? Mikehttp://www.dothangunclub.com/
